Hitzer 50-93

Hitzer 50-93

PostBy: Linc On: Thu Mar 13, 2008 4:29 am

I was leaning towards getting the 30-95 but the missus wants to get the 50-93. I would like to hear all the good and bad about this stove. There is little difference in price tags for the amount of BTU's they produce. My wife likes the extra insurance of the 90k BTU over the 55K. So long as she is happy,I'm happy. Thanx in advance for all input. :) Linc

It's always better to have btu's you don't use then to have btu's you wished you had. Their is a few people on here with the Hitzer 30-93 that seem to be very happy with it. Do a search and read through some of the old threads.

The only difference that I was told at the Hitzer factory is the 30-95 has a hopper that is removable so the unit can burn wood or bituminous coal. the 50-93 hopper is not removable and is for anthracite only.

Not 100% sure, but I believe this is correct.

That is asolutely correct. I ran it past M&M Coal and Stove where I bought my 30-95. :)

We have used our Hitzer 50-93 for the first time this year and have been very happy (actually more than impressed) with the unit.

It heats a farm house at just under 3,000 sq ft and the LP furnace never turned on once this season. We load coal and empty ash every 12 hours or so. Last night it ran 16 hours before I had the chance to tend for a fill and ash clean. No issues with it.

Hope this helps.

I chose the 30-95 so I can burn wood in it spring and fall. It also has enough heat output to heat the parts of the house I need to heat.

I drove the 80 mile each way today to my coal dealer, M & M Coal, to get 800 pounds of pea coal. That should be enough to finish the coal part of the heating season. I am going to build a coal bin in the woodworking side of my garage large enough to hold at least 4 tons of coal. Then M & M will deliver in bulk once a year to me. Man, this is going to be easy compared to heating with wood! :)

I'm looking forward to not messing with wood at all.Except that I am planning on putting our old stove out to the work shed and heating that with wood when I'll be out there. I would only need to heat out there for short periods of time.
