A little more progress.... Received the parts today that were out getting nickel plating. They turned out real nice. I will send out the last batch when I get some more cash. At some point in time I have to start working on the grates and ash pan. Work has been busy lately so I have little time to work on the stove. Here are a few more pictures of the progress.

see if you can find an identical stove with good grates, if the owner will let you borrow them as cores to send out to a casting house, to make you a set of replacements for your stove.
the best thing to do with these old stoves now, even if they DO have good grates, is send the originals out, and have new replacements made, same for the firepot. if you burn it, use the new alloy parts, save the original stuff as a pattern.
the new firepots are of much better metallurgy and don't even need refractory material to burn coal.

It's been a little time since my last post. I got the rest of the parts back from the nickel plater this week. The outside of the stove is now complete. Soon I will start working on the messed up grates. I am going to talk with the Tomahawk foundry next week. I have included some pictures of the stove as it sits right now.

BTW for some reason the photos are sideways. I am not sure why. The file loaded off of my computer was orientated correctly. Sorry about that.

Stove is looking good. Would have been better if you would have kept these pics with your original thread though. Radiant Home 018

I will repost in the original thread. That's a good idea to keep everything together. I am also trying to fix the photos..... I am having new computer issues.

BTW, please ignore the other post that I started titled "Radiant Home 018 progress". It was suggested to keep the entire thread together which I think is a good idea. I was not thinking before I started the other thread.

In the photos, it's got a nice contrast to the colors around it. Now if it only had a black pipe sticking out of it, and some blue flames inside, it would be "picture perfect".

The stove is finally complete! For as bad as the grates were, the Tomahawk Foundry did a great job making a new set. Here are a few more pics. First, a couple of the old grates, new grates back from the foundry and the completed stove. This was a fun project and I greatly appreciate the help from everyone. Now if I could only hook it up to me chimney....
