We had a basic pop up for many years while my kids were younger. It was tent on wheels. The great thing about that trailer was that I could pull it with my Toyota Tercel wagon and the kids and I could push it around and put it up really fast. When DK was stationed at ST Louis following 911, we, the kids and I, drove that thing by yourselves there and back several times. Actually, the kids and I pulled that thing all over the Eastern US. It was fun.Cap wrote:I'd buy the pop up camper.. Easy to store and quite spacey when set up. Easy to tow, no need for that big gas guzzler of a truck. 2nd hand units always available.
However, when it came time to get a new camper DK and I went with a 30ft travel trailer. It's small enough to handle easily but still gives us a lot of room. The F-150 pulls it just fine. Eventually, we plan to place it on the lot of what will be the site of our retirement home outside of Richmond so we can spend weekends there before the house is built. We wanted something a little stronger then a pop up.
When I was younger, I loved the flexibility of the pop up and they come with all the amenities of a larger travel trailer. If you don't want to be tied down, get a pop up.
