Give it some time...
every other OS from MS is usually good...
7 turned out good after SP1...
8 sucks...
10 should be good under this theory...
Just don't be the early adopter if ya run a business on yer puter...
Oh and don't do the in place upgrade...
Those always turn out baaaaad...
Clean install is the way to go...
Remember you have a year to download...
Get the serial now...
Save it for later use...

When they stop offering upgrades for 7, I'm done with them. I'm still pissed I cant use my XP desktop. I'll use Linux or something else. 10, no thanks.

They can't support operating systems forever, they did it for 12 years which is exceptionally long support for software.

I have been very impressed with Windows 7, no reason to change if they still support it.

Microsoft’s new ‘privacy’ policy.
from https://edri.org/microsofts-new-small-print-how-y ... ta-abused/
“We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to”, for example, “protect their customers” or “enforce the terms governing the use of the services”.
It seems pretty clear that people who harbor controversial views should probably give Windows 10 a pass. Else the Social Justice Warriors who’re rife in large corporations like Microsoft will report them to the relevant authorities for public shaming and attitude adjustment.

And of course, there’s no risk that this information would ever be compromised by, say, hackers and sold to the highest bidder. None whatsoever.

I didnt expect them to support it forever, but I miss it! Its kind of like having an old car I cant drive.

I do like 7, but they will stop supporting it in a few years. I don't mind Linux and have used it.

Windows 10 might be free, but your privacy is priceless

We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to comply with applicable law or respond to valid legal process, including from law enforcement or other government agencies… [or] to enforce the terms governing the use of the services.

I have a laptop with 8.1, that's going becsue I hate it. The free upgrade is good for year so I'm in no rush. I'll wait for the first or second patch release.

If I like 10 I'll upgrade my 7 machine.

This is for their services like email, not the personal files on your computer. These are blanket policies where they try and cover their ass to prevent future lawsuits from their customers if they are forced to turn over documents. You're going to find these blanket policies on nearly any site or service like photo sharing ones simply to fend off the lawsuits.

The problem isn't the companies, it's the government.
