Hi all. Just wanted to share the new stove with you all here on the forum. Ordered the Keystoker HFH 70/90 stove in goldenfire brown and I must say it looks sweet. I've attached 3 photos. The stove has a cast iron top piece that simply lifts on and off that I have removed so the wifey can use it to place against the hearth to see what color(if any) she wants me to paint the brick. This piece really dresses the stove up and has a glass window in it that lifts up to afford access to the coal loading door.
I'm posting this because there simply is next to nothing out there about these stoves. What I have read however has been overwhelmingly positive. From initial appearances the stove looks really well made. The gaskets seem thicker than most I've seen and the shaker grates measure slightly thicker than 1/2 inch. They look and feel very robust. Another point of interest is that there was some speculation that the stove needed to be run with the fan on. This is not true. There are no tubes that run thru the firebox that circulate air. The fan only pushes air thru the space between the top of the coal loading door and the cast iron top piece. The fan is only rated at 45 cfm so it is anemic to begin with and I will keep you posted on it's benefits.
The only negative thing so far is the user manual. Very lame. No exploded parts page, not even a diagram for how the fire bricks get lined up. I really wish there was an exploded parts diagram. It would make life so much easier down the road.
Anyway, hope this beauty works well and wish more manufacturers would offer a nice looking coal unit. Wood and gas stove users are way spoiled with all the choices they are afforded. Any input/recommendations from owners of this stove would be appreciated
tanx
John

She's a beauty! If I did not need to purchase a dual fuel (wood/coal) stove to satisfy my wife this is the stove that I would have purchased.

Been burning coal for about 10 years now in a keystoker stoker model, bi metal thermo is on left side as you view the stove from the front, not sure about the 70/90 thing but read somewhere on this forum about discoing the back shaker grate to reduce the heat output during warmer times of year

John, your new keystoker is a beauty. If it delivers like the rest of their line you will not only be warm but smiling too. The keystoker manuals seem to lack attention to detail ,at least I hear that concern quite often. I find that with the manual for the KAA2 I have. You will soon have it down to a science and won't need anything other than Keystoker's phone number. They are tremendously helpful on the telephone. Good luck and let us know how the lite-up goes in a month or so. Mike

Very nice looking stove! The manufacturers website lists the top of the flu at 23" . That would be a great height to install on my hearth and vent through the fireplace. Is the flu really that low?
Thanks
