Glad to see everyone is gearing up. I too am ready for cool temps and cider and football!

Here is a couple pics of me unloading the Kimmels from TSC the other day. I use the slide to get them into the basement. I can unload a full ton in about 8 minutes. Of course....i then need a few libations to "recover".

As our Grandmother always said to us kids, "Work with your dumb head or wear out your weak back, your choice". I am certain that to tell any kid that he/she has a dumb head today is offensive and punishable, but in 1950, statements like this one were called common sense, we kids understood. You are working smart and as a result probably have never had the pleasure of Horse Linament swabbed on your back like me. That is truly a different kind of fire even a dumb head like mine never forgets. :) Mike

We got 4 tons of Reading rice (bulk) delivered yesterday from Jono Ace Hardware @ $220/ton . They recently bought Fittery & Habecker Coal so now they sell Reading,Superior,Blashack & Sherman. We now have 7 ton in the bin,so we will need another 8-9 ton yet to get us thru winter.

Had a neighbor come over & dump bags of BLASCHAK nut/stove into one of my bins--left over from last year--about 1 ton--I get HEAP through council on the aging which never comes together till the end of Nov. usually around $500.00. At least I'm a legal & happily take advantage of that!! :woot: Soooo, I guess I'm as set as I can be at the moment. At least this yr. I'll be tending the old HITZER on my own! Neighbor will come every 10 days & fill buckets & get them inside by the stove. :)

Good on ya Fred! It's always nice to see anyone who has actually earned a priviledge being able to collect on it. We know you will be warm this coming winter :D

That great Fred!

As of yesterday, I'm all set here for the coming winter. I added a ton of Kimmels to try. Not sure I needed it but its insurance.

Don't overdue it! Good idea having a friend fill the buckets.

I had 5 tons delivered a couple days ago, looks like a good quality Blaschak, not a lot of fines this time.

I made the trip to Jefferson, MD today and picked up 2 tons of Blasck pea. My son and some friends had it all stacked and ready for the winter in no time at all. That gives us a total of 2 1/4 ton. I'll pick up 10 or 15 bags of nut later after we decide if it's going to be as bad as they say it is. It feels good to know we'll be warm no matter how cold it gets. Lisa
