Who Has Their Winter Coal Supply Ready?

I fully support programs like Heap even thought they are obamasocialistic

I finally got moving on getting some coal. Had a lot of things putting me behind this year.

I decided to go with mostly bulk delivered this Winter again. I had picked up some bagged Lehigh last March to see me through and loved it. I had used the old Lehigh's Greenwood for about 25 years when that was one of the best hard coals. Someone posted earlier this year about a place that sells Lehigh bulk and bagged in the Bechtelsville area. ( Livin' Green Landscape Supply). After confirming that it is Lehigh that they carry, I placed a bulk order. I'm a pretty good distance from them ( maybe 21 miles) but they took the order. The price will be $265 per ton delivered.

I could buy bagged Blaschak or Reading nearby for slightly more ( and have to go get it 1/2 ton at a time) or DiRenzo bulk delivered for about $235. The BTU content and low fly ash of the Lehigh is worth a bit more for me. I'll likely also pick up a 1/2 ton of bagged Kimmels for the shoulder seasons.

For those that can haul a ton or more of bagged, skidded Lehigh at a time, this place has had Craig's List ads. Looks like the summer price may still be on. I believe it may be the bagging plant in Coopersburg that bags Lehigh for them and others. $ 222 a ton picked up.
Not too bad for bagged, quality coal.

I'll second the support for HEAP. My winters supply for the house (6 ton of BUCK) is scheduled to show up Monday morning. Yes, it's a good feeling to have the winters supply on hand.

While we are on topic of coal supply I have witnessed in past years as oil and gas prices would go up anthracites would go up to reflect the value in their btu, now with oil and natural and lp very low it seems that coal price has stayed stable and has not mirroed the downward slide of the other fuel price. I have done little research other then paying my coal bill .

Well,maybe the coal folks are making a higher profit for now while their costs are lower, GOOD FOR THEM. Rob,good to see that you got all that coal in stock,wish we had ALL of ours but at least we have some of it.

4.5 tons in the bin as of mid September, I should be good through February if it's as cold as last year, I'll last until spring if we catch a break in the weather.

October looks about like last year, so we should start out on the right foot. Won't have to turn on the rads until maybe the third week in October, fourth if we're lucky.

I just needed to redo a re-thanx here. When I 1st got out of the hospital over a yr ago, some FORUM members realized I would not be able to tend my stove & got together & had my (kero) fuel tank topped off. This FORUM IS family & one doesn't forget stuff like that!

Picked up about 7.5 ton today...Should be enough to last close to 2 years.
Started with an empty coal bunker....
Ended with a full coal bunker!

Got 5 tons of bit coal delivered yesterday. Price was $525.00.

i had 4 tons of bulk delivered last friday. I have most of it in 17 55 gallon drums, a couple of trash cans and a box lined with a bag. I probably still have a couple hundred pounds on the ground. it really isnt much that I havent recovered from the lawn. I burned 7 tons of pellets in last years ugly winter I am hoping that 4 ton will be close to enough. if we have that mild winter they are calling for, perhaps I might have some left over.

i figured
7 tons of pellets at 13 million BTU per ton. 7 x 13 = 91 million btu
4 tons of coal at 25 million BTU per ton. 4 x 25 =100 million BTU in coal

may my math be correct, lol. gee 7 tons of pellets cost $1800, 4 tons of bulk delivered anthracite $1040. more heat, less money, don't have to pick them up. its a no brainer

We have 6 tons of rice in the bin,will need 8 more tons to make it to April.We have 1870 # of nut in buckets,will need about 3400 # of nut yet.

Still waiting for 2 tons prepaid from TCS like many others...
I do have 1.3 ton of bagged left over in reserve from last winter.
Also have another 2 tons in dry storage for emergency!
I may need it if TCS doesn't show up...

14 tons, what are you heating??? it has to be a huge building or multiple buildings.
