As far as I know, there's no source for bit coal near here. But if there were, I'd try it in the #6 if only just to learn more about another branch of the coal family and more of what the #6 is capable of.
Hummmm, ....... maybe if I put secondary air tubes in the top of the range firebox, like Lightening's salt & pepper system in his Clayton furnace,....

Bit coal is different to burn, but it has the same BTU's as anthracite. I'm paying 85 per ton, Anthracite is going for 225 to 300 per ton here, I can't justify the change over. Bit is dirty, but I'm looking at 600 per heating season for bit, as opposed to 1600 for anthracite.........and this is going by TSC's preorder price of 225 per ton. That's a 1,000 dollar per year savings. That's a lot of cleaning supplies.Sunny Boy wrote:As far as I know, there's no source for bit coal near here. As much as I want to burn Anthracite, so I can contribute more to this forum..........I can't justify it (not to mention that 'SWMBO' said I was off my rocker and threatened bodily harm or committing me to an asylum).
I want to help more...............but I could get hurt in the process

Your saving even more than you realize. TSC's preorder price this year was $275.00.
$225.00 was last year's sale price. Had my bulk dealer rather upset when he heard about it. This year he's smiling again because he beats TSC's sale price.
