So Devil, where did you get the math to speculate that with off shore drilling 5-10 years ago would result in 2 or 3 cents per gallon price reduction??

That is more pure speculation.. we don't know how much oil is offshore,, NOBODY does..There could be none, or there could be more than the Saudi's have. To make a statement is just pure speculation, like we don't know how McCain will run the country.. to say the something WILL happen, or any other type of statements like this is just Palm-reading, Ouiji board playing or reading Tea-leaves..

You can make solid statements about what already happened,, but lets not fill pages and pages with speculation with no basis in fact about what will be..

All my statements are based on speculation of oil experts like T. Bone Pickens & others who are not known for their Democratic fund raising prowess & I included the caveat word "Probably" twice in my above post.
If there may be such huge quantities of oil offshore, how come the oil companies have failed to even start drilling in many of the vast areas they already have drilling leases for? (speculation: They don't really want more supply on the market. That will just drive down prices!....(It's the same type of speculation that says the sun will rise tomorrow. Can I prove it?...No.....But I can sure "speculate" that it will. ;) ))

In any event, with even all the experts agreeing that we can't drill our way out of foreign energy dependence, my opinion is that all this "Drill Now" talk is just pre-election BS from the McCain camp to try to deflect criticism on energy prices away from where it squarely belongs......At the feet of an administration run by oil men who have been in control of all energy policies for the last 8 years, & at the feet of the man who promises to keep all their policies going for the next four years...John McCain. (Don't you find it peculiar that a man who has been a US Senator for over 26 years & never shown much interest in energy independence, has just suddenly become a "we need more drilling now" man? He was actually against more drilling......before he was fore it! )

Edit: Sorry Greg.....I forgot to respond to this statement of yours that you constantly try to sell. ...."....... we don't know how McCain will run the country."....
Of course we all know exactly how McCain will run the country......He tells us every day!.....He'll run it just like GW Bush!

If you missed the cartoon I posted above, I'll post it again. It is really very accurate.

McCain's where he belongs, in the Senate. He's a natural gadfly and gadflies aren't leaders, they're the people who ask leaders the tough questions.

To his credit, he said most of the right things when conceding Tuesday night.

I've got to agree. He ran an absolutley horrible campaign. You can't just run around the country saying I'm a maverick as the heart of your message. You have to articulate a clear set of goals and beliefs which he did not do. Besides, once the credit markets caused the economy to tank, I don't think there was any republican with any message that was going to beat Obama. At this pivtol time in this countrys history we need a true leader. I hope Obama can be that leader for the sake of the country. Did anyone else notice how sober and somber Obama looked on the 6th after he had his first intelligence briefing from the CIA? I think he now has alittle more appreciation and empathy for GWB.

Empathy might not be the word I'd have picked, maybe a deep and abiding disappointment at the s#!tpile he's now got to deal with.

Empathy is when you understand that somebody's playing a tough hand they were dealt. Disappointment is when you regret how badly they played the hand they were dealt.

To say history won't be kind to 43 is to say that this thread isn't about coal.

Of course it isn't a word you would have picked. You're a mean spirited left of Lenin liberal. I'm trying to be open minded about Obama as he is now my president. Bush was dealt a huge mess and then 9/11 happened. You can't see anything but hate through you red glasses.
Geez it's great to have you back! I was afraid you rear ended an ambulance and had gone to where ever it is that dead lawyers like you go. I thinks its a garage in Cleveland. :P
