Welcome! The coffee is hot and French toast and bacon is cooking. Homemade maple syrup is on the table.
I can't believe I've been here at north camp an entire week. It would be easy to melt into this place and have a month go by. The loons swim by every few hours. The family of ducks visits once a day to exercize the dogs. The two eagles hang out in the dead tree and watch us watch them. A fellow swam across the lake yesterday and the eagle took a dive at him! Only one, I guess he was just checking for a quick snack & found no good smells.
Enjoy this last weekend of the summer. Hug your loved ones for sure.

Breakfast sounds good Freddy...and the lake sounds even better!
Nice crisp morning down here today, no humidity. I hope to get the box rails and other hardware needed to hang the doors on the pole barn today. I have to fab up some brackets to make it work so it may be trial and error and take twice as long as it should.
Nothing else but a trip to the dump on the schedule today so I may also take off the shutters on the front of the house and clean them up. Anyone have any luck painting vinyl shutters and not have the paint peel and flake as they expand / contract with temp changes?
Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning all, nothing much going on today except wife sit while she mends. Never thought for a second that this was coming up but as a reminder to all don't be shy about getting a colostomy, my wife (who has a family history) got one a year & a half earlier than due & two weeks later she was in the OR, that doc said another 4 to 6 weeks & she would have been beyond help. Not trying to tell anyone what to do just trying to help get the word out. I still have 2 tons of coal to pick up that's paid for but it's only a few miles away, once I get that put away I'll get some more.
That 765 is a thing of beauty, good to see it on a run. Just be careful FF, use your knowhow & your friends strength. We have more days in the 80s coming up so the last grass cut isn't here yet. Hope all have a safe productive weekend.

Hi all,
I'm writing from Morgantown, GA this week. My son and I drove down yesterday and will be here for the rest of the week. Freddy, breakfast sounded great! Much better then what I actually had.
My mom wrote the wrong date on her calendar and wasn't expecting us until next weekend so she hadn't made a trip to the store. She had food for one person (she eats next to nothing anyway) but not three. I'm just as glad the mistake was made since it's not her responsibility to feed us. A trip to the store fixed the situation and we are now good to go.
We don't have a whole lot scheduled to do but the family we are visiting throughout the week are spread out between here and Atlanta so we will be on the road a lot.
My summer is quickly coming to an end, school starts on the 8th and I'll be back on the bus. This is my tenth year. I enjoy the kids and hope I'm making a difference in someone's life. I'm the first adult many high schoolers see each day; a smile goes a long way with them.
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their summer, Lisa
PS I'm glad to hear things went well with your wife, Sam. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know being the caregiver can be difficult, to say the least.

Thank You Lisa, it was rough for me as I lost my last wife to cancer. As I said it can come on fast. Now I'm just grateful that I still have her to look after.

Hi, I thought I'd share a picture of the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway engine. This is the major tourist draw for the town of Blue Ridge. There's also a Lake and a TVA Dam. Floating on an inner tube down the Toccoa or Oconee Rivers is popular, too. The train run several times a day between Blue Ridge and McKaysville 10 miles away. It's pretty crowded on weekend during the summer.
Blue Ridge has two main streets with quaint shops. My favorite shop is the Wild Bird Store. I can think of worst places to be. Take care, Lisa

I just realized I pasted in pics of the #425 in my last post! The 425, not a bad looking locomotive, it's just not the 765! Much smaller. Thats what I get for sending pics from my cell phone! Here are some 765 images---
