Hi all,

Two of the inner grates on my Glacier Bay/Gibraltar hand fired stove are warped. It's bad enough where the linkage pin bar does not engage with the notches on all of the grates. The grates are "sagged" if you know what I mean, esp. the post at the end that goes towards the back of the stove. I never overfire the stove, I think it is something that may have just slowly happened over time.

The grates I need are stamped model/part # 1156-2. Anyone have a pair of these I could buy (or even one)? Or is there any way to try and heat them super-hot and bend them back into shape?

Thanks as always,

Scotty

This sagging of grates is not related to over firing...it comes from ashes underneath building up to restrict the necessary natural air cooling which doesn't allow the heat to soak the grates.
Less air = more heat.
It gets costly to be slow to remove the ashes as/when required. :o

Thanks for the link- I saw that already and was hoping to maybe find someone on here with some spare grates at a more reasonable price :)

$226 EACH is really steep.

I agree, it's imperative to dump the ash pan at every shake down or you chance warping due to the reasons that McG listed. :)

Use the search box in the top right of the page, type in your stove model and see who has one, there may be a member close by. A p.m. followed with an enticing beverage can do wonders!
