In these days of political and global uncertainty, my wife and I have found much solace within our own domain. Our property is only two acres, but forever wild in the back; and two streams bordering the property. Simple things like observing the deer feeding on our apples, a mink or muskrat swimming close by. Yes, Mike, I know very well what you are saying. It's the simple things in life that that are paramount to what is perceived as "fashionable" in todays fast passed society. Thanks for starting this thread. Very refreshing.
Jim

Our 4.2 acres has been a source of lots of "smelling the roses" over the 14+yrs we are here, this yr has been so busy as I posted earlier. But I have been thinking about this post since MA started it,(thanks, MA) we have smelled some "roses" along the way, just didn't have much time to linger. We get lots of enjoyment from our cats, the few flowers we do have this yr. & now we added homemade ice cream to the list. We have had our White Mountain ice cream freezer for 30+ yrs,not used it in 20+ yrs & finally on Labor day we put it to use again. I can't have sugar so Maple sweetened & flavored ice cream with raw whole cream & milk is what we made on Labor day & again today.

I do have to say, this ice cream is the BEST ice cream I have ever eaten,my wife made a winner with this stuff. :D Stella didn't eat any of it,she is just a very happy cat & loves to relax at times, she is also the cat who tries to get me out of the shop during stressful times to "smell the roses". She loves if I go outside & walk around with her,she seems to sense the need for me to relax, something we have not been doing much of this yr.

This forum is only as good as it's members and the collective posts on this thread and practically all others are top shelf. I'll use this for the down times as well as good and hopefully others do as well.
There is so much positive folks here have to share and so far this is just the tip of the iceberg.
I think I saw a bottle of what looked like blueberry syrup on WH's table...he's lucky I live so far...
Keep it coming!
Kitten's name was Puzzle because of her patch work face but it has been changed to Trouble...she's full of piss and vinegar but cute as heck.

Trouble is a good name choice for her,she looks full of it. MA,the syrup is actually tart cherry juice concentrate,I take a tablespoon each meal ,it helps keep the Lyme induced joint pain within reason.

Very cute kitten that seems to have a winning personality. You will have to take special care that she does not get herself into trouble.

Nice rhododendron DW and critters too.
Fred you never looked so good :) , nice lookin' company my friend...this thread can be about all things around us that make us what we are and what we love. Sometimes we get caught up in our little world we forget how big and wonderful it can be. Tonight my furry friend Trouble is enjoying my Greek style yogurt as much as me.
