I'm sorry about poor scooter. He looks like a beautiful cat.
Some folks give me a hard time about allowing the cats outside for reasons like that but I would rather see them enjoy the outdoors than to live long lives indoors, staring out the window

Auntie, Scooter was the last cat I ever thought would get ambushed. He never ventured far from the house and when my wife would call him he usually returned within a minute or two. The night he got murdered we let him out around 5:30 PM. Last I saw him he was halfway out the driveway sitting which was normal for him and I paid no further attention. It got dark and we called & called but no cat came. I instinctively knew something bad had happened so I searched the area next morning and found him a little more than 100 yds. from home. Not a pretty sight.
Chessie is still an outside cat and we worry but she loves her freedom. She is a very good hunter, hopefully she is woods-wise enough to evade predators. She is 6 yrs. old spayed.
Dazzle is strictly an inside cat and he could care less. He is 3 1/2 yr. old neutered. His main mission in the house is stealing the dog's food.
Thank you for your kind words :) BTW Scooter was beautiful but you should have seen him the day my wife brought him as a kitten from the SPCA. My first thought when I looked at him was What the %@#$ is that ???

What? :!: Even the coal-burner's-bible forum has turned into a cute-cat-pictures site? :?:
Oh, well, go with the flow. :P Meet Henry, in his favorite napping spot, and half in the bag.
Henry, alas, has an enlarged heart and probably won't last a long time. Also he has the distressing habit of putting his head virtually in the mouth of our 70 pound dog to see whether he might want to share what she is eating. So far she has been tolerant but she does growl some warnings, which he totally ignores.

Smitty, I have to wholeheartedly agree on cats being a "soothing" creature. Nothing like the purring of a cat on ones lap or next to you to calm the nerves. And at least some of them have such a good "sense" of when their person is stressed & try very hard to calm the person down.

I hear ya Windy. Not many people "get" cats, but I've got a real deep connection with these ones here.

The last addition to the family I rescued from abandonment after my brother and sister-in-law's house they were living in was foreclosed on. When I found out they just left the cat there, outside to fend for itself, I told them they'd better bring it up here or someone's ass was going to get kicked! She was a mean, MEAN cat when we first got her - can't blame her at all! I've learned that cats give what they get - she had a really hard life, and wasn't treated very well, so that's what she expressed. She's got a BB lodged in one of her legs from someone in her past. After 5 years here she's one of the most gentle, loving cats we have.

When I watch TV, she'll start cleaning one side of my head, and work around in layers until my entire head is soaked ... :funny:

She hangs out on my leg while I eat. :D

Smitty , we've rescued quite a few over the yrs.... although most of them just "came" to us here at our place... they just showed up,beaten badly, nearly blind,1 deaf with neurological issues from brutal beating... we did our best to feed them good food, love them as much as possible, give them the best possible life for the rest of their lives, which for a few was not too long, but they had happy last days. It has cost us $350/mon at times feeding so many & caring for them. We figure someone needs to take care of them,we try our best with the abilities God has given us. It is an awesome feeling to help these poor, abused cats & watch them "transform" into trusting cats.... this is of course some time after my wife & I have done the :mad3: about the idiotic moron who treated an animal so badly.

Monday past my son invited me to have lunch with him at his school, no special day at school or anything. So Thursday I went over to his school, met the lunch ladies and was directed to the special visitors table. My son spotted me from across the cafeteria as he entered and he couldn't get his lunch fast enough to join me. He invited 2 of his buddies to join us at the special visitors table and the 3 of them ate their lunch and showed how goofy and fun it is to be 8 yrs old. My son stood next to me as he ate his lunch, he likes to stand and lean on me and his mother when ever possible, he's a very loving son.

The kindergarten class sat closest to us and most of the little critters stared at me, little kids seem to get a kick out of shaved heads or bald ones  One little girl seemed a little out of sorts and stared at Sean and I for 30 minutes as she nibbled her food, wanted to ask if everything was ok but you know how things are these days so I kept my mouth shut and just smiled.

Yesterday his 2 buddies came over after school and dad made triple chocolate chip cookie and listened as the 3 of them brought me back in time...entertainment has changed but kids have not if you let them be kids. Going sledding tomorrow and waxing the sled today and the Mrs. thinks I'm nuts saying, "you guys are going to get killed!" and, "you're gonna' hurt someone!"...ahhhh good times. :)

Have a great week end all!
