Hey guys and gals, finally gettin charter internet installed this Saturday, what's the best deal for a good router? Just simple stuff, wifi for cell phones and a lap top, and I pad. I have a PS3 but will probably wire that direct, and am planning on getting a tower to hook to my tv and will probably wire that direct also?

Look for 10/100/1000, older ones only did 10/100.
The new 1000's are called Gigabit. As for brands...look at online reviews.

My advice? Get a DOCSIS III one .... and go to best buy and buy one and try it ... do many tests. If happy keep it; if not return.

I did this -- tried 4 modem/router combos before I found one I was happy with. A motorola sbg6580, purchased in July 2015 ~ cost $140.

I have to turn on/off every few days to get/maintain the highest speeds....if you are getting broadband you probably won't need to.

I tried netgear, Dlink, and a another before settling on the motorola. Its all compromise.

You can also get a modem separate than a wireless router and get the dlink wireless router:

If ya want to go crazy.
