WOW! This is great Sox! It actually has BTU ratings, water capacities and hopper capacities in it. Also a great cutaway of the later boiler with the nice heat exchanger.
So, the 3 grate is 126,000 BTU gross and 94,500BTU net. They go all the way up to a 10 grate 420,000BTU!
Nice,

Figured it was about time I checked in.
The Yellow flame has been working pretty well. The drive motor decided to die right before Thanksgiving but it wasn't a big deal to replace. The only issue I have with it is the fire goes out if the outside temp gets into the high 60's. I'm guessing the way I have it piped is restricting the draft somehow. It works and it's only for this winter so I'm just gonna ride it out
Coal usage so far has been less than 3 tons. Closer to 2.5

It's good to hear back from you Sox. Sounds like the YF is running well, except for losing the draft in warm temps. I bet the basement is nice and warm!

I had a yellow flame that did exactly the same thing. When the outside temps went up I would lose draft. We heated or DHW so I needed it to run. Momma didn't like it when the hot water ran out while she was in the shower!!!!
As the temps went up I just added more pins to where it fluffed the fire about every 15 minutes during the summer. We would have 90+ degree days and then I had it coming on every 10 minutes. Solved that warm outside loss of draft problem.
Run that boiler!!!
