Tony from Glowing Embers came by today and serviced my Keystoker. I fired her up for the first time this season and the house is at 71 with the stove on idle. My wife, my daughter, my dog and I sat for about an hour and watched the blue ladies dance! My wife was sitting in the recliner just out of the frame of the picture basking in the warmth.

This year I switched to a Leisure Line stoker, though the furnace is still available for backup (coal or oil). I ended up building a tile base for the stove, and lit her off for the first time earlier this week. Here are a couple pictures. The old coal shovel is just for show, and probably won't stay there due to the wooden handle. Also I'm still waiting for the manometer, and I plan to plumb in a fresh air intake with some PVC through the back wall and into the attic, but otherwise, it's functional as-is! I've been waiting a long time for this!

Hi new guy here. Just put a Saey Hannover I in my basement last week. So far so good. Ive been able to light a fire and keep it going without much drama. Im really digging this coal heat and Im just getting used to it before the real cold sets in here. Anyways great forum and Ive enjoyed lurking for the past year.

If you like the coal stove now just wait till it really gets cold out! Coal likes no coal loves the cold! The colder it gets the hotter the fire, you will be surprised.

Picked up a not so new Gibraltar fireplace insert today. Wow that was heavy. I think it is a CFI model with five grates. This stove needs sanding , paint a shaker tool and six fire bricks. Hope to get it burning this winter. This stove came from Maine Craigslist.

Here are pictures of my, and my Brother-In-Laws Keystoker. I have a 90k and he has a 105k direct vent. I installed both of them. If you have any questions please contact me at stewartfan@mac.com
More pictures HERE

Here is a picture of our 90K Direct Vent, this will be our sixth heating season with it. I just acquired the water heater next to it, the next project is to heat domestic hot water with the stove. The 6" take-off goes to our Dining Room.

Getting coal from Aerni & Hitzel Fuel Incorporated in Easton PA, very nice people.

Refurbished a ten year old Alaska Kast Consol II over the last few weeks.

Fired it up Saturday evening for the first time using charcol Brickets, so far seems to be running just fine.

Was wondering what the right amout of carpet travel should be? Right now it's set at about 3/16" and the blower is adjusted all the way down.

Stove temperature above the front door is about 250/f and the stack temperature is about 175/f

Stoker style of burning coal is new to me.

Lets not be too stingy with pictures. I like to see all the stove. Inside and out. Front and back. There's not too many coal stove shops around here. So this is the only place I get to see a variety of stoves. I'm always left wondering what the rest of it looks like. I'd really like to see simmular pics of a Reading Swatara.
Thanks for sharing! What a great place!
