That's a nice coal hod and the little stove is beautiful. The small part of the room that is visible makes me think the rest of the house is very nice also.

As you live in Mediterranean heaven, I am fascinated by the logistics of burning Welsh (as in Wales) coal. Do you import it? Do many people in Greece use it? Interesting indeed.

Yes, I import coal only for personal use. :D

Here no one use anthracite for home heating. Most prefer local hardwood, oil, or pellets.
You can't find nut anthracite in Greece. Only fines or "buck" from the steel industry supliers.

I am trying to make people know that is a great solid fuel for room heaters or stoves but they realy afraid to order some tons.

Most believe that burns dirty... they have in mind the old steam engines...

Sorry for my poor English.

Great job on the hod, George. And even with your accent, we can understand you perfectly. (don't worry, we all have accents, even here in the same country.)
So how are the winters in Greece? How many months, and what are the lows?

Thank you very much Joe!
The truth is that I didnt made the hod by myself. I ordered it to a local sheed metal craftsman for 30 euro. :)

I live in the southern part of Greece near "Rio-Antirrio Bridge". The average temperature in the winter (no more 4 months) is 8*Celcius.
Snowfalls are very rare here.

And do you use your Godin as a room heater, or does it supply all the heat for your home?

The Godin is the main heating source. I switched from oil to coal 3 years ago.

My home is 1300ft^2. the Height is about 10ft. Realy high.

I burn about one ton of coal per year.

Which equates to around 40°, give or take a few degrees. It's nice that a little stove like that will keep you comfortable. And add some style to boot. :D
