Hi Randy.
A little late for the comments but all I can say is that your stove looks beautiful. The way you make the final touches is unique and confirm you artist talents. My English is not able to tell how much I like the different détails you incorpore in your work.

You've out done yourself with all that fancy detail nickel work. Job well done Randy. Someone will be a proud owner !

Thank you! At this point, I will probably be the owner. I would have to get at least $3,000 for the stove and I don't think anyone would want to pay that much for an oak style stove.Merc300d wrote:You've out done yourself with all that fancy detail nickel work. i'm still sayin that when you see what a stove of that caliber and size does as a double heater the market may become more obvious to you.
but, you may still want to keep it. i'm certain I would.

I agree that it is an awesome quality stove. I am sure it would heat my house just fine too and would move heat around better without fans than the stove currently does. Probably just not be able to idle the stove down quite as much as the stove with the return flue.KingCoal wrote:i'm still sayin that when you see what a stove of that caliber and size does as a double heater the market may become more obvious to you.

I am probably going to pull the Andes out of the house this spring and re-do the hearth area. I wanted to do that this past summer but had a hip replacement so that took care of that project. When I get that done, I will probably hook up this new Andes for the following season. Then if the budget allows, I will completely tear down the original Andes and completely restore it like I did this one. The nickel is the killer on the budget but boy it sure does make the stove look nice.

I agree with you Randy. And it sounds like you've got your priorities in the right order. You got lots to be proud of there. Whether you sell any of them or not, it was well worth your efforts, and you won't lose anything from what you've accomplished.

I got the stove hooked up out in the garage today. The place I normally order my stove pipe from did not have what I needed in stock. I was able to piece together some of what I had and regular stove pipe from Ace Hardware. Not pretty but working. Started a charcoal fire in it to cure the pot liner. Will report on what I find out after a fire in it with coal. I think I am going to have to stop an air leak around the grate rods like I did on the stove in the house. If there is something you want to know about how the stove is operating let me know.

Thanks, those labor pains are a bitch though!
Even though the stove is just burning charcoal, you can already feel heat coming out of the double heater. It does not take much to get the convection started on this!

The double heater exhaust uses 7" pipe and I happened to have a section of it out in the shed. I was able to put a 24" section on the stove so as to get the temps more acurate further from the stove. Still burning charcoal and getting about 160 degrees. I am impressed with that because stove temps are only 250 degrees at the top of the barrel. Almost ready to start adding coal.

Man, I just can't get over how beautiful a job you did on that stove Randy. I like the orange glow. Adds a "realistic" touch to it. I'm curious, if you ever put some anthy in it, how your barrel paint holds up.
My thurmolox burnt off, the 1st day. Looks like crap now. I'll be pulling it off this summer and redoing it. I wasn't very (careful, cautious, concerned?) about my break in procedures, and maybe I should've been.
This weekend is suppose to cool down, so maybe you'll be able to put yours to the test. Good luck.

I am almost ready to put coal in it, been burning charcoal for about 1.5 hrs now. Not much smoke yet and barrel temps are almost 300 degrees. I will let you know how the paint and stove polish holds up.joeq wrote:Man, I just can't get over how beautiful a job you did on that stove Randy. I like the orange glow.
