Welcome! Come on in, find a seat & we'll share some of the best coffee on the planet. Spend a moment & share a thought. Pancake batter is waiting along with some thick sliced bacon. Time to fuel up and get busy. If you're not ready for cold weather, it's about time you GOT ready! It's 27 degrees right now and the HIGH tomorrow is predicted to be in the 30's. Yowza!
Last night was the annual Hospice charity desert & auction. Last year I won a bunch of cookies, this year I went better prepared & I saw to it that I won 5 dozen cookies a month for a year! Here's a photo of the first installment. I haven't figured out what to do with them! There's no way I can eat that many. They won't go to waste I can promise you that!
My buddy Jim & I finally got to work on the addition to my garage. We have a problem though..... I designed the walls so the roof will be one roof when it's done BUT.... they changed specs on the trusses & when they delivered them I immediately saw they wouldn't fit. Snow load laws have changed. So I sent them back & now I have to have trusses custom made
(or shorten all the walls....that's not going to happen!) It'll be 2 weeks before they can get to them. Grrrrrr So the project is on hold. Ohhh, I suppose we could put on some of the siding. Oh, well, forward we go!
Enjoy the weekend.

I do believe the "Coal" weather has arrived !...Well,at least for this weekend. Freddy,You do flow some of the best Java that I've ever had ! It could be due to the Company We keep in here! I've got a balmy 41* with a stern NW push hitting me in the face. We're expecting Our first Lake Effect Snow Event, and a freeze or two. It's been a Fine Fall,so now bring on the rest. Try to check Your batteries in all Your Detectors, and while You're here, slam some of that Home-Hill churned butter on anything You Love. I promise to not "Rat You Out" to Your Cardiologist ! As always,Welcome back to Our Burn Season Friends, and to You Year 'Round Stalwarts,I bid You All a Good Day !!
Morning everyone....chilly here today too, not nearly as bad as you guys up north but I did turn on the furnace for the first time to test it out and to bump the temp inside from 63 to 68. With propane so cheap this year i'll wait an extra week or two and use the furnace in the mornings before firing up the stoker for the year.
freddy, I had the same issue crop up on an enclosed porch addition and ended up with the roof line about 7.5" higher. After 20 years I think I can look at it now and not have it bother me!
Working on some halloween props today. Using pneumatic cylinders and some home made poppers and noise makers to bring some of the things to life and increase the scare factor this year.
Have a great day!

Going to be in the 40's here this weekend. I'm on call today so I expect business to start picking up shortly.
If I have time I have to replace the smoke pipe and do a test fire.
The wife is cold at 60 so she's going to be hypothermic if I don't get this going.
But first....breakfast!

Depending upon the local weather source of choice in conjunction with my two outside thermometers, the best I can venture is that we seem to have bottomed out somewhere in the neighborhood of a balmy 34 to 36 degrees here this morning. First frost here should come early tomorrow morning, with the low temperature forecasts cluttered at around 29 to 31 degrees. Highs only in the mid to upper 40's for today and tomorrow.
Freddy, I can only wish to routinely partake in breakfasts as tempting as the ones you conjure up. But at least I've had a few cups of coffee, and there is plenty more of that.

Good afternoon all,
It has been awhile since I posted last. Life has been busy, very busy. Freddy, nice score on the cookies. Don't eat them all at one setting, stretch them out. It has been pretty cool around the house and shop this past two weeks. Started both coal stoves two weeks ago to take the chill out of the house and shop. It is snowing as I type this. We are suppose to receive a couple inches. I will believe it when I see it. Anyway, I hope everyone has a safe and productive weekend.

Freddy,
Nice score on the cookies. Look really good on the screen.
FF and Snowman,
I remember years ago when we used to head to Mexico and Pulaski for the salmon snagging season. If it wasn't snowing, we were cheated out of some good fishing. Used to "fish" the Little Sandy and Salmon River at Farmer Brown's campground. Always came home with some whopper salmon.
Me and the son trekked down to Salisbury, MD this morning to bait up the deer stands and do some final trimming on the shooting lanes. Along the way we stopped at a diner in Harrington, DE and they actually had some fine tasting scrapple on the menu. Almost tasted just like the local stuff. Just the right amount of pepper for me. But probably not as good as the scrapple served here in Freddy's kitchen but still tasty.
We have not had a frost here. We are going straight to freeze warnings !!!! So tomorrow will be the day we drain the 2 cistern pumps and lines and put away all the outdoor hoses for the season. And I will also be smoking some of my grandson's 6 pointer he got last week. We are already enjoying the pickled heart. They say it is a tribute to the animal to eat the heart. Can't stop tradition............it is too tasty.
Still plugging away on the AA rehab. But this damn hunting season is getting in the way.
Enjoy the weekend everyone.
Rick

Coooookieeeees!!!! Nice score Freddy! I'd be eating 3 meals of those a day with a haul like that ... Setbacks - story of my life Freddy! I'm no stranger to setbacks ...
Bahh! Winter sucks!! It's friggin SNOWING here as I type ... WTF!!! WAAAAAAAY too early for that crap! Luckily it's an off and on light spit. Good thing, since I went and had beers with the neighbors instead of working on the '94 S10 plow truck. Tomorrow's another day!
Stupid friggin GM .. speaking of the plow truck. God forbid they use a normal BRAKE LINE for the clutch! Or better yet .. a CABLE. Nope! Too damn easy! They had to pork us all with this push-pin-o-ring contraption! GRRR!! And whaddya think happens to the little pin after 21 years in MA?? Already spending money on a free truck that might not make 4 passes plowing before a brake or fuel line busts. Thing is SOOO rusted underneath. I'll have to wrap my friggin face in Saran wrap to keep the rust out of my eyes! $56 for that damn complete clutch line. And since it's plastic into metal, they tell you to reverse the installation, so metal side is facing UP ... like GM SHOULD have done 21 damn years ago!
So after all the Government Motors mayhem, I had to get out and blow off some steam. Can't do that! I managed to get myself into a pickle after enjoying the beautiful land around here. The beavers have been causing the water level to rise inch by inch all summer long. Now the trail is under water. I thought I remembered where all the holes were. Apparently not! I'd rather be stuck the rest of my life than crawl under another POS GM product again. Such is life!
The Vulva is running great. We've put about 800 miles on her since I got it going back around August/September. I ended up shelving the brand new tires I had bought for a set of new Continental True Contacts in a lower profile, wider size. The handling with the first set on the highway was FRIGHTENING, especially the way I drive once I have straight road in front of me. Any lane changes over 50 MPH were hairy ... so at 93, you can sort of see where I'm going here. Minute I got home, I tore them off the rims and got on Tire Rack. Wife just put 160 miles on it today, and it still has over a half tank! Has no power whatsoever, so that's to be expected. Did I say Vulva? Oh ... I meant VOLVO. Sarryy bout dat!
Got to take a road trip up to VT the other day to haul another Vulva up to a new owner. Nice ride. A little gloomy out there, but foliage is about at peak in the northern half of the state. After that haul I realized I needed new tires on the truck, and new brakes on the trailer. It never ends ...
Gonna be an early night for me. Winter is coming! Laaytah fellizzz!

Snow??? OMG!!! I am coming up in 3 weeks and I love to hunt on snow but I don't know if I can take it anymore! Holy cow, we went to a rural fair today and it was HOT. Felt like I was back in Maine at this place, old water powered mill, still milling, a horse drawn sorghum operation and lots of crafts and greasy foods. Great time.
