Tis a nice crisp morning at 26 degrees. BIG frost all over everything. But, the coffee is hot and smells wonderful. Come in & have a cup! I'm thinking a breakfast sandwich would be a good start to the day. Egg over easy, bacon & cheese? OK!

I have a friend here from the great state of PA. She flew in on Wed & is driving Eloise's old car back home. She's never been to Maine so we had to go to Acadia National Park for a one day tour. We ended up at Beals Lobster in Southwest Harbor at sunset & had a great meal on the dock. Linda had a big ol' hard shell lobster & I had lobster stew. Deeeelicious! Here's a couple of pics from the Island.

The custom trusses for my addition came yesterday early morning... a week early! We'll get back to work on that come Monday. Maybe by next weekend I'll have a roof.

Hug your loved ones & enjoy the weekend.

Very nice pic's Freddy....Hot coffee is the ticket this morning. It got a little cool overnight I haven't fired up the stoker yet since it has still been hitting the 70* degree mark during the days down here in the balmy south! I did hear the furnace kick on a few times last night, glad propane was so cheap when we filled up, eases the anxiety a little hearing it burn up a few gallon.

Got a couple reports to get done from work this past week this morning then some fall chores to get done outside when it gets light out.

Have a great day!

Wow been YEARS since I've been to Acadia. That pic of the ocean looks like the place I dove in, and was tortured by 54° water! Since that day I've never set foot in the ocean.

30° here this morning. Same frost on everything. Figures too. Going on DAY 3 of my trailer brake job. Turned into a total nightmare. Would you expect anything less? Now the temperature is 35° COLDER than it was when I first started the project. Making easy tasks extremely difficult and AGGRAVATING. Did I ever mention how much I HATE winter?

Not much left to do now. Got all 4 new Dexter backing plates bolted up, ran all new 10/2 brake wire down both sides, eliminating the thru-the-axle wire (none was the correct gauge anyway), and got one hub greased and installed with new bearings and races (cones and cups to those outside of MA). A trip to my local store made me $160 lighter in the wallet .. and didn't even include the f'ing races!!!! :mad2: :bang: People who advocate supporting "local businesses" don't live in MA, that's pretty obvious!

Gotta run. Have to drive 35 miles to pick up 3 races, then stop in another town to pick up the 4th .... GOTTA LOVE IT! :|

Good morning all, I haven't posted in here before but I do enjoy reading these entries from everyone for a while now .

What beautiful sites to see Freddy .

I'm having some cowboy coffee this morning, as they call it, and I will be cooking some cowboy eggs , which is bread with a hole cut out and a egg dropped in the middle , fried in a pan , then topped with a few spices and maple syrup . The youngest has been having some rough nights , might be cutting some more teeth .

Maybe today is the day I get the garage partially sorted . I have my doubts .

I hope everyone has a good day and enjoys the crisp air . It's currently 48°F here

Thx Smitty, brings back mightmares of me (in week moment) agreeing to replace the running gear on a horse trailer with two 8000# Dexter axles. That was three years ago and I promised NEVER again. It's 26* here and that means we are at the same temp as FF and that is not fair. My shoulder system of the AnthraKIng chewing through some rice is working very well and the coffee is great so life should be good yes? Well no! I brought a Bombardier sw48 to help with winter nightmares at a really great price from a MA dealer. Everything seemed to be working perfectly. I think it came from Maine and was a low time, skillfully maintained piece of gear and I was a happy camper. It is a challenge to drive and so I was playing around until a friend of a friend claimed to be an expert who drove one in Concord NH had a drive. Blue smoke was coming out of it as he leaned on the pedestal brake (which you never do) and now the band in the diff. is burned out and they are $385 just for the part. So much for experts, he must work for Obama. Of course, none of the liberal stoop mechanics around here even know what a Bombardier is (no it's not an ATV I keep explaining) an so I am in a funk thinking of doing the job myself. If only Smitty lived next door.

Feed 3 wild cats every morning, they are about 6 months old. Momma cat is still around the neighborhood somewhere. Earlier in the week my wife finds a baby kitten, of course she feeds it and tries to bring it in the house, the dogs freak out. So the kitten is in the detached (my) garage for now. Second kitten appears trying to get in the garage. Had them both outside when it was warmer this week but momma cat isn't around and the others ignore the kittens. Have not caught a mouse here in a few years, they are doing that part well. Oh well, back to the 3 oil changes I need to get done, they all came due at the same time.

Holy crap coalnewbie, did you not know better then that? Wow, that was an expensive joy ride for some guy. Might be cheaper to fly Smitty in for the repair. Come on, you got it, we know it...... I will be up in the area you were looking at to move next weekend. Going to pick up fish and deer meat near Danville, Virginia. North of there actually. It amazed me how rural it is between me(Chattanooga) and there is. Taking the scenic route up through the mountains and the quick route back the next day. Hope the cool temp hold and not downright cold Freddy, I am arriving in the Machias area just 2 Saturdays from now.....god I can't wait to get to my hunting camp.....

WOW 1500 miles, now that's manly stuff. If I was to move to Maine and take my Bombardier then perhaps ....

I guess that is also for real men only.

Morning all. 57 here in north east Ohio. Got the Vermont castings wood burner knocking off the "chill" in the house, which means the wife is cold build a fire. I love watching the sun rise over the pond, of course this photo was taken last year, it's not snowing here ;)
