OK after only 35 years the little plaque that says Crane fell off my 404 LOL. Yes I whacked it with a misguided poker. But surely there were built for old men to use an old stove and the amount of wine should have no bearing on it LOL. I have no idea what used to hold it on but think a dab of high temp silicone the answer. I do have to say only 35 years and such a major repair needed is and eye opener. LOL I do apologize for having a wood fire in it tonight and no doubt failure caused by the wood..... In all honesty it kept me very warm last winter going through 3 tons. I had 3 1/2 and used 3 starting in November this year could only afford 3 and have a pile of cut up pallets for nights like this one and will be warm tomorrow no heat really needed. I need to extend the time before I switch over to coal. Fuel oil is less but yesterday woke up feeling very cold to the bone and thermostat said it was 70 but is a different one I guess. There is fuel oil 70 to 72 and then there is coal 70 to 72 with all the plaster walls warm and no drafts.

dd, You could always check in with the good folks down at the shipyard. We were up there recently and from what I saw the boat builders there know a whole lot about how to make something stick together under adverse circumstances. We toured the entire place for two days and did not find one single Crane stove however. Quite an oversight on their part I believe. Good luck with the reinstall of the plaque, all proper stoves must have proper nomenclature to operate. :) Mike
