Hitzer dealer recommendations

Hello Everyone,

After hearing my stories about the pleasures of coal heat, the parents are in the market for a Hitzer 503 insert. I live on Cape Cod, MA; there are no ‘local’ dealers so I am going to have to travel. I am willing to drive up to 3 hours out and regularly go to southern NH. Hopefully you all can point me to a good dealer or tell me to get it direct from Hitzer. The ideal situation would be a dealer demo or a gently used stove, as we all like to save a buck or two. The stove does not have to be installed until next heating season, so I can wait for the ‘right deal’ to happen.

Yes, I have. There are less than 15 listed dealers in all of New England. The first one I called, who happened to be the closest, did not want a ‘long distance relationship’ so… here I am looking for a good friendly dealer who would not mind a ‘LDR’ and who comes with praise from the forum.

Preston Trading Post in Preston( big surprise, I know)Connecticut carries Hitzers as well. Depending which end of the Cape in which you live, you could make it in 3hrs.

Damariscotta Hardware is about 4.5 hours north of Cape Cod in Maine. They carry Hitzer and Harman stoves, as well as some others.

FYI, Find a dealer and order soon. I believe there is a price increase in April 2008.

I called the factory to get direct pricing on a Plain Jane 503 Insert, $1787 to my dock. They are going to try to hold the current pricing thru early summer although they do normally bump prices in April. I am still on the hunt for a marked down demo or a gently used 503, priced accordingly.

I bought mine with the gold door & gold surround for $1575. A Hitzer 503 insert. I'm going to Maine this summer & could pick up 4 ton of coal & bring both up with me.
