Good morning & welcome to the coffee house. It's always open & has the best coal perked coffee. I'm thinking some French toast & Vermont Maple syrup will get us moving. Join in!
This week has been a stark contrast to one year ago. It's been warm all week & no frost in the mornings. Last year we were dumped with a foot of snow! Maybe this winter will be an easy one?
I took advantage of a warm day this week and took the pressure washer to the sheep barn. Ceilings, walls & floor. Running hot water through it helped, but what a job. I spent over two hours. Even though I was in a big brim hat & raincoat I got soaked. Ewwwww...it was like taking a shower in goat dung. All I could think of was a nice hot shower. When I got done I stood in front of the washing machine & ALL my clothes & the rain coat went in. I went from there to the shower...... and of course.... no hot water. Arghhhhh! I washed face & hands in cold water & waited half an hour for hot water. *sigh* Wasn't this sister in laws job?
Hope you all stay busy & have a super weekend!

Good morning. Finally a little news this week. We had a very good showing of our house on Tuesday, and the people want to return for a second visit sometime soon. I also sold my Camaro in the barn. Buyer hasn't picked it up yet, but I've been paid in full. Lastly, I just found out that I need to travel to Houston TX next week for business. I guess that is one way of staying warm.

Good morning, I'll grab a cup of the hi octane and then it's off to look at a small coal stove I want to set up for a young couple that has electric heat, to help them out w/ there heating bills. Of course there's tons of other stuff needing done also. Best of the day to all.

We had some serious wind yesterday that blew most of my leaves into Canada. Hopefully they don't come back in another month.freetown fred wrote:Mornin all, great b-fast choice Freddy. Dropped my new iPhone this week and shattered the glass. First problem I have had in almost 10 years. Off to AT&T to get a cheap phone to use on next weeks trip, hopefully Apple can salvage mine.

Mornin' all and thanks for the breakfast Freddy. I took on a side job building a deck for a lady, she came home from work and said, "can you make it bigger" ...any way what a pain in the ass moving posts and bolting on an addition to a deck etc.
Oh well looks like raking leaves today, ciao!

Mornin everyone. French toast sounds real good, Freddy. Nothing happening here except the cool down,
I'll be building a fire with this crappy bit coal I purchased. This is about the worst coal I've used to date and I'm praying for a warm winter so I don't have to buy any more coal this season.
Take care and be safe all.

Crazy weather for November with days in the 70s. Decided to power wash my super cheap Bombardier SW48 just for chit and giggles. Then I thought 2 coats of TSC Majic brand New Holland yellow might brighten it more. Outside painting in November - WOW. OK, none of my brush work will end up in a Concourse d' Elegance but it was cheap and now will be cheerful as well. Once again, all the best stuff comes from Maine. How about two 5" (dummy) stacks coming out of the top. I know franco, you would have thought I would have grown up by now.

Morning all,
We woke up this morning to 60* and drizzle. It's going to be with us all day. I think we've seen the last of the 70* weather this year. I took advantage of the weather and closed up the hives. I have the stoves all ready to go but from the forecast it looks like we won't light the match until after the 20th or so. Any temperature above 55 or 60* and it's hard to keep the draft.
Not much else going on. I'm hoping for a slow wind up to Thanksgiving. I hope everyone gets something done on their To Do list. Take care, Lisa

If it was good enough for the Titanic it should be good enough for you!coalnewbie wrote: How about two 5" (dummy) stacks coming out of the top. I know franco, you would have thought I would have grown up by now.

... OK then 3" stacks but I would have to add flame stickers for extra effect. Third childhoods are a great time of life.If it was good enough for the Titanic it should be good enough for you!

No joke. The Titanic had 4 stacks but only 3 were functional. The 4th was just to make it look like it had more horsepower than it really did.coalnewbie wrote:... Smoke bombs inserted into the pipes would give lifelike effects.coalnewbie wrote:... OK then 3" stacks but I would have to add flame stickers for extra effect. Third childhoods are a great time of life.If it was good enough for the Titanic it should be good enough for you!

It's a beautiful day here in southern Michigan. But a stark contrast to last Sunday, when it was in the low 70's. Our weather changed on Thursday night. It had been windy all that day, and about midnight the rain came through, and we had a rather well-defined front with high winds and very heavy rain. But by dawn, it was history, and the temperatures kept up their slide until this morning. This morning at dawn, the OATemp was 20*.. and we had a very heavy frost on everything.
Today is crisp and clear, but only about 51*
Great new Rob, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
