hey guys posted in april about buying a koker lite and was all set to get one installed before summer. my wife had problems and ended up having a our child earlier than expected between that and switching jobs it didn't happen. I finally got myself a koker 160, with no outside access to my cellar my father brother and I strapped it to the appliance cart and inched it down the inside stairs. I have to level it, hook it up to my existing oil furnace and hook up the exhaust. I got a price for 800 dollars for the dealer to intall but I think I can hook it up. the dealer did say he wants to be here when I first fire it up to make sure everything is working right.
I burned 6 tons of pellets last year and 800 dollars worth of oil and was still chilly, I'm looking forward to 4 tons of coal hopefully and plenty of heat this winter.

Good Luck and keep warm. Heck for $800 bucks, unless money is tight, I would let the dealer hook it up. It will be hooked up right and anything goes wrong it's on him. I'm saying that because I'm not a handy man. Just my point of view. Stay warm!!!

While you are leveling, it is a good idea to have it tipped slightly forward (back of the stove just a hair higher than the front). This will ensure the coal feeds properly.

Ash fuseing/softening due to high temp...lower air some will lower temp...adjust feed accordingly to new air setting too.

The Keystoker Koker is the best semi-furnace made. The Hitzer 710 is a close second. You have a great stove which will last for 50 years with little trouble.

It's burning too hot is why it clumps. Adjust your combustion blower properly, if there's a cover on the intake, adjust to about 1/2 covered and adjust your feed rate.

My ash cakes up a little when it's really cold out, below 10-20 or so and running the stove really hot. sometimes you just can't avoid it. I have use a 50/50 mix of Buckwheat and RIce in my keystoker and it helps with less fusing of the coal and get the coal ash chunks/coal cakes or "clinkers" as many of us call them.

Do you have a thermostat or CoalTrol on it?

Make sure you check your draft and baro damper and set it correctly with a draft gauge and a good working CO alarm.

I believe it's the same as most of them, Clockwise IN - MORE FEED. Counter Clockwise out - Less Feed, Only turn a little bit at a time.

My keystoker 90K I turn all the way in (Clockwise) and back it out about 4-6 turns to start.

You will need a full fire and calling for heat, and then adjust accordlingly so you have about 1" of ash at the end of the grate at full burn. Only make small adjustments. 1/2 turn at a time and let it stand for an hour or more. If you are pushing hot coals off the end, you have too much feed.

My oil furnace would blow my curtains and calender around when the blower was on. The coal is blowing but no wheres near what the oil furnace would do. I have the stoves side by side 11x19 on top of coal stove with a 10x13 transition piece into warm air oil furnace.

ok maybe somebody can tell me if they are running a similar setup. I disconnected my oil furnace motor and turned the power on to run the just the blower. I set the limit switch on the oil furnace to shut off at 100 and on at 130. it seems to be working good. I still have the kokers fan hooked up and don't plan on removing it.
