Good job there WW. I see you put a hanger on it to, nice. That big expansion tank is a good thing on a handfired boiler. It will absorb a larger temperature overshoot than a smaller, more typically sized tank.

I bet the old one was heavy! I bet it was full of water. Glad to see your pressure is more constant now.

Thanks Don! Yah was pretty full and had some nasty black water in it. Glad I took the time to replace it. Instant noticeable change to the system.

New damper came in today. Went in quickly and will be keeping an eye on my draft and adjusting accordingly. Should be cooling down a lot more here in the northeast soon so getting excited to fire up next week.

Looks like a good setup. The draft gauge is right there for easy tweaking.

Merry Christmas Everyone! Quick update on some progress. I picked up a modine heater off of craigslist to heat the single bay garage under the house. Colder floors in living room dining room which is above the garage... It's a 47k BTU unit so should be plenty for taking the edge off down there. I got it mounted yesterday and boiler Bob came by to tie me into the system. Was easy enough to tap into the previousely cut out plumbing with a new pump and return. Digital thermostat too! Was really excited last night and cant wait to get a good coal fire back up but for now I got to run out to Christmas shop in shorts and a tee shirt, crazy warm December this year, 63* this morning and rising. Enough rambling here are some pics.

"You've come far,Pilgrim !! You've done well to keep so much hair on Your head ! " Sorry,I couldn't help myself as to me,that was one of the best lines spoken by Will Geer to Robert Redford in the movie "Jeremiah Johnson"-LOL!

It's been an amazing journey for You and us here at 'Der Coal Board ! I'm still so impressed at how stout that 'Lil Monster is. You didn't give up,and You've saved a unit well worth getting back to function. Keep learning and growing with it. Being there's been so little to go by on Your unit,You've set a Library in motion on it for the next Guy to learn from. Your Pic's have been an excellent aid in getting the help You've needed. Hat's Off,And Merry Christmas !
