I am having problems finding the info on that webpage, but I do recall looking at our thermometer in 1993 and seeing it bottomed out at -45. There is an agricultural school in our area that observed -48 the same morning. Many apple trees were killed, and nothing parked outside would even attempt to start.

rob I used the site and it said -34 for our area, but I do not believe thats true, I don't think it accounts for wind chill either though which has a major role in it.

The temperatures I referenced were static, there was zero wind.

There are a lot of microclimates in our area. On cold mornings I have seen the temperate change by almost 10 degrees by going over a hill, through a low spot, etc.

-42 in the 1800's but Ive seen it -30 or lower a couple times. Ive had over straight100 days of never breaking the freezing temp which is worse. Go north of me and it drops fast.

Anchorage is by the ocean. It doesnt get super cold or super hot. Check Fairbanks and it will be much colder. It is nicer along the coast in the winter than many of us experience in the lower 48.

I think Larry is looking for actual temps so wind chill doesn't apply.

-25F. Too damned cold. Like Rob we have microclimates and we like Pine Island NY are always lower than the rest of the area but generally the winds are less.

We hit -10 on 1/22/84.

High temp record was 105 on 7/16/83. Interesting that the all time low temp in December was -8 also in '83....certainly a year for wild temp swings.

Thw Weather Channel says our recorded record low is -24 on 2/16/1943 but, on the top of our hill, we get weather than is different than the center of town. In February of 2015 we got down to -26. Prior to that, the coldest I saw was in February 2011 when it was -20, the fuel lines in my Dodge Cummins gelled up...it was full throttle, at 15 miles an hour, for 45 minutes to get to a gas station to get warm fuel.

At 4 februari 2012 it was the coldest with -24 Centigrade.
And there is nothing I could find from before 2000, and I tought the coldest was in 1963 or 1944 because we had very strong winters than.
the one from 1963 I could remember, but 2012 I was already forgotten.

Peter.
