Was wondering if anyone has had luck using an auger to move nut size coal? It seems (when using the NEPA search) that it works for pea & rice, but any try using a 6" Jet Flow auger for nut? I was thinking of using it to empty the 5-6 ton storage bin (when I get around to building it) into 5 gallon buckets for bringing into the house.
My biggest concern is having the auger jam..........

How about just use the bucket as a scoop and skip the cost, jamming, fines and other issues that can be associated with augers. Not to mention it's faster.

Where the bin is going in the corner of the garage, it could get tight for scooping out with a shovel. I am also trying to to acquire a conveyor belt. That wouldn't jam as easy.Pacowy wrote:How about just use the bucket as a scoop and skip the cost, jamming, fines and other issues that can be associated with augers. Not to mention it's faster.

I thought that was more for rice and pea, not so much for nut.Lightning wrote:A vacuum might work better.

Bigger coal just needs a bigger vacuum. Scale it uplsayre wrote:I've never heard of anyone successfully moving pea with a vacuum system let alone nut.

I will be posting tonight a review with pictures of how I have come to move various sizes of coal with flex augers and air induction. Both have there pros and cons but ether way does work. For nut I have air to work much better.
Thanks again,
Glenn
