So, how many of you maniacs went out to brave the crowds in the middle of the night last night? I've done it once or twice, don't see me doing it again though

I was too busy dodging deer on the way home from Vermont last night. But, we did make a quick K-mart stop on the way there though.
This morning I was gonna do some shopping for projects around the house, but then the coffee kicked in and I realized what day it was.
My honey-do list was quickly altered to just projects not requiring shopping !

I just saw the Walmart flyer.
70" Vizio for $698... Whoa.
They might as well give them away.
My 65" Vizio 1 and half years ago was twice that price.

I'm thinking that as long as I have access to the internet, UPS is in business and I have a credit card that I'll never have to subject myself to the rigors of shopping again ... Lol

The wife wanted one thing that is on sale now through Monday I think. I ordered it online. It took about five minutes.
Anyone remember the K mart blue light specials of days gone by? That was a year round circus but nothing like black Friday.

http://www.davemanuel.com/investor-dictionary/black-friday/Due to the surge of holiday shopping traffic, many retailers are thought to officially turn profitable for the year on this day, or "move into the black".
Many retailers run in the red (meaning, they lose money) up until this day, and then when people start pulling out their wallets and purses for holiday shopping, the retailers start turning a profit for the year.

I actually had to go by the mall early yesterday morning to go to a plumbing store. I don't even like going near the mall on a normal day. It was around 8AM or so, I was dreading it but traffic was actually very light. Perhaps they were all in the store already.
With internet shopping and the stores open on Thanksgiving it's no where near what it used to be.

Yes... Not sure if it was Black Friday but I remember WNEP airing the store manager of a Zayre's standing up on shelving trying to stop the onslaught of hundreds of shoppers vying for a handful of Cabbage Patch dolls back in the 80's. It was like a rock concert mosh pit. I can also remember the line that went for blocks for a local electronics store selling Pac-Man for the Atari.gaw wrote: Anyone remember the K mart blue light specials of days gone by? I'm with you on this - My mom's birthday is 6 NOV but I didn't send her anything (really what do you get an 86 year old.) Thursday I sent her a late birthday present in the form of an electronic gift card from a bookstore that she could use on Black Friday. She was able to get twice the amount of books by getting them on Black Friday and no one had to go anywhere. That's a win for both of us.Ky Speedracer wrote:I'm thinking that as long as I have access to the internet, UPS is in business and I have a credit card that I'll never have to subject myself to the rigors of shopping again ... I went to infest the local Feed Store............Parking Lot size-up was excellent upon arrival, and there was a Grand Total of two Folks in the store! I was greatly relieved ! I asked the Clerk jokingly about their "Black Friday Specials",and we both bust out laughing! Stores open on Thanksgiving? Enough of this Boop already !
