Sounds to me like we can stop spending billions of dollars of our tax money over there monthly & bring our troops home then.....Right? (can't wait to hear this month's White House spin on why we have to keep spending.....& dying over there if things are so damned good!. )

Exactly. In this economy, the hawks simply cannot win this argument.

If these people don't want us there, screw 'em. If things are going well, then we can bring our troops home.

Very few people want their dollars going to Iraq now.

How many in that ad? 5 people? 6? And just what "job" are they talking about "finishing?" Like I noted above, the pitch won't sell in this economic environment; if things are going well, then we can leave.

What you guys don't get is the lesson I've been teaching my son since he was a little boy: that there's always a reason that people, like the wonderfully beneficent drug companies, or the dealers selling Hummers or Escalades, or anybody else, spends their money on advertising. And that reason is to change your perceptions and sell you something you wouldn't otherwise buy.

Nagawork this time.

No....Don't you get it??

If things are going badly...... we have to stay & finish the job (Whatever "Finish" means???)

If things are going well........we have to stay & finish the job

Thus......We can never leave! (well, as long as there is oil under that sand that is  )

As Iraq "spins into control" the costs will decrease. That's common sense. You guys are just pissed because Obama's biggest card is now irrelevant.

Iraq is still killing our soldiers every month Richard & still costing us billions per month that we need right here at home. If their deaths & that huge amount of our tax money is "irrelevant" then we see things a bit differently. As far as Obama's "biggest card"..........that is the economy! (GM just announced that in addition to everything else their doing to stay afloat, they may give up making entire "makes" of their cars.

Headline from last week

Americans killed at Baghdad council meeting
James Hider in Baghdad

Four Americans were killed today when an explosion ripped through a Baghdad council meeting they were attending as part of efforts to boost reforms in Sadr City, one the capital’s most sensitive trouble spots.

Well perhaps I phrased that wrong but the point is Iraq as a political card is no longer relevant. The fact is they had a plan, executed it well and its working. If the Democrats wishes of immediate pull out had been the plan who knows where we'd be today but I'd venture to guess discussing what a poor decision it was. I'll again refer you to the history of Afghanistan and what happened there after the Russians and the U.S. pulled out.

Sorry Richard but I still disagree. The fact that we are spending billions per month in Iraq (while they are banking their own money) is crippling us from substantially funding many vital things in our own country such as badly needed infrastructure repairs, health care for our citizens, cancer research....the list goes on & on. Considering that many security experts (*& generals) feel that Iraq is making us less safe right here in this country, do you really think that your tax dollars are wisely spent in Baghdad?

Even Obama himself has been criticized this past week, now it's a "Well I'll wait and see"

Apples & Oranges....But....Speaking of Afghanistan, things are getting worse over there right now. If Iraq is a done deal, then transport all of our combat units to Afghanistan......... this week.

You're right it is apples and oranges, Iraq is an industrialized country with 40 million people with the oil wealth to finance.
