Apparently they want us out. From today's newspaper an AP report headline: "Iraq insists on U.S. withdrawal date" New proposal ties security agreement to five-year limit on American troop presence.

"Iraq insists on U.S. withdrawal date"

Where does it say they want us out now?

While the withdrawal time line has yet to be negotiated, ( & never will be) the Iraqi's desire for us to leave, in relatively short order, is undeniable. Therefore, what is the justification for GW Bush's going ahead with the building of multi-billion dollar permanent US bases (with no-bid contracts to D. Cheney's "Haliburton") all about?
(we all really know the answer to that hypothetical question, don't we?..............We aren't leaving........ ever! (as long as the Iraqi's are sitting on top of Exxon-Mobil's oil!)

Don't get me wrong, I have no love of the Iraqi people, but let's drop the ridiculous pretenses!..."Operation Iraqi Freedom"............What a joke!! I say Kill them all & take the oil!! (start with the cute little Iraqi babys)
But at least sell it to us American citizens at a reasonable price!

I would love to have been in the room when Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld & Wolfowitz came up with the Iraqi invasion code name.....They must have gotten a huge laugh out of "Operation Iraqi Freedom"

I wonder if anyone thought of a more accurate operational name such as:

"Operation F--K The Towelheads- Let's Steal Their Oil"

or:

"Operation American Greed"

or: (fill in the blanks)-----------------------

Sunni bloc rejoins Iraqi cabinet
"The main Sunni Muslim bloc in Iraq has rejoined the Shia-led government, in what correspondents called an important step for national reconciliation."

July all time low for violence in Iraq, according to http://icasualties.org/oif/USDeathByMonth.aspx

Total of 11 deaths as of July 28th, 3 were non-hostile, 2 were previous MIA's. 6 servicemen killed by hostile activity. 6 is still too many but I think 0 is right around the corner.

Spoke too soon Richard:

Suicide bombers kill 50 in Iraq, wound nearly 250

By Mohammed Abbas and Waleed Ibrahim 37 minutes ago

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Three female suicide bombers killed 28 people and wounded 92 when they blew themselves up among Shi'ites walking through the streets of Baghdad on a religious pilgrimage on Monday, Iraqi police said.

That just happened this morning, despite the 10 billion per month we are spending over there which is mainly paying for corruption.
Hmm.....I wonder what the American Cancer Society could do with 10 billion per month?

As I said before devil, its just a blip during this extended. No one is saying Iraq is the absolute safest place to be however the violence has dropped off dramatically. Last year at this time that headline would have barely made the news because it was so common.

I'm sure it's more than a "Blip" to the 300 innocent people killed or wounded & their families.

Yes your exactly right Devil and it just goes to show how callous these people can be towards even their own people. They have absolutely no regard for human life whoever it may be and will fight the "enemy" in anyway they can. Thankfully the violence has been contained there and its not happening here in the U.S at the present time.

Edit: Just to add you only have to look at other places like India and Pakistan to see the same violence.... Is the U.S. to blame for the bombings there as well? I think not.

Waste it just like the last thirty years worth. How old will Jerry Lewis will have to live until his telethon "cures" MS? Not going to happen, way to much money in treating it. My buddy just died of lung cancer (from smoking of course) but not before spending a million dollars of insurance money on treatment. My bet is you will never see a cure for any major disease.

Democracy doesn't happen over night, so it is unrealistic to expect no bumps in the road

Interesting side note, did you know more servicemen died under Clinton's watch than GWB's? What does he have to show for it?
