Less typing & that is his middle initial is that not correct? I think I'm doing him a favor. I could say Obama which is close to Osama. What do you think?

OK, say Obama.

I'll be interested to see if you do it.

[quote="pvolcko"]Devil, I thank you for your response. I think your positions and mine are fully on the table now. As you said, we disagree on a great many things.

I suppose this puts the lie to the idea that people can be convinced (either way) of something on the merits of a "logical" argument alone. :)

I just got back from going out to dinner with my wife & a few people & have done a little "house cleaning" on this thread, as well. I quickly read your post but am too tired to really give it the attention & thought that it deserves, so I will wait until tomorrow to do so. In re your above statement however, I would just say that I have changed my views by hearing/reading & agreeing with a logical argument many times. I hope we would all remain at least partialy open minded enough to listen & think about the merits of a good, logical argument. I'll really read yours tomorrow.

Spc, I think Obama is just fine. The Osama slip is a verbal thing and doesn't really apply to type unless one is in the habit of typing Osama a lot. Barack is fine too. Yes, Hussein is his middle name, but like just about every other person I know he doesn't go around asking for his full name to be used and people don't generally feel obliged to inject a middle name without special reason. And just as it isn't your fault that Barack's father was Muslim, it isn't Barack's fault either. Maybe give the H a rest, huh? That said, I'll defend your right to use it, just not your choice to.

Stokingfull, I'm not particularly faithful or religious (actually I'm borderline atheist, I still have pangs of hope that there is a God), though I try to live by the lessons I learned in my Catholic upbringing. However, I don't take kindly to casting aspersions upon others regarding their adherence to a given faith. There are many sayings and tenets of faith that I could drop at this point speaking to the danger of calling people out on their sins and unfaithfulness, but there is no need, we all know them. How about we all just try to keep our own game in check, debate the issues (or God forbid actually talk about Coal!), and let God sort out who's been a good Christian.

:)'s to all

Now back to the

Respond if you wish. I'll read, perhaps respond. However, I'm about ready to call it quits on the thread. I've already tread into very dangerous water (as a business rep, that is) by getting as involved as I have in these off topic threads. I just find political debate so very hard to resist. :)

impossibility of a non-created universe

Ultimately, this is what keeps me coming back to consider God's existence. The impossible complexity of what makes up our universe. Forget the universe, consider just our tiny spec of it. The unfathomably long odds that so many of the things we observe around us could be mere happenstance, the result of a random seed event followed by eons of particle interactions and nothing more to imbue organization to it all... It is the most compelling case for the existence of a creator. I'm going to cut myself off here before I go into thoughts on God and religion. Back to the topic of the thread. Sorry Devil. :)
