Old Newspaper Pic's
I came across an old newspaper backstage at the community college last night. I know the theater isn't that old so I guess somebody brought it for some reason, maybe as a prop for a past production.
Its from 1956. We were chuckling at a couple of the ads and how the big hammer of safety had not been pounded into anyone yet...

Being a Massey guy I have to say they can take a lickin & keep on tickin. The little Fords are a favorite around here with the city boys who like to come around on the weekends to play farmer. When they brush hog with them & bust the light duty PTO I have a friend nearby who makes good $ off them fixin em up so they can go do it again. I had a brother-in-law (now deceased) who was hard on machinery and used my Massey 135 for a little brush hoggin. Wanted to trim around a pile of fieldstone and got a little too close. He was way across the valley when I heard him tangle with that rockpile. I had bad thoughts about my PTO but it turned out he busted the gearcase on the brush hog (which he owned). Massey handled it with no ill effects

Young??? I came about in 1948, my Massey is a 1972. She handles a 2-bottom with ease and in good soil 3-bottom works too. I don't plow anything anymorefreetown fred wrote:Why you young woodpecker!!! OUCH

Yep young!! My 8N & me are both 1945 models. I'm down to a single bottom & like you I'm not plowin much these days. Bush hog wise, if I catch it early & stay with it I'm OK but your right about the Massey PTO & HP set up. Damn,m you got good soil down there??

Soil? What's that Actually most of the serious farmers around here run a rock picker at least every 2 or three years. They come up with every frost. I only pulled a three bottom in a friends "manicured" field. Made the Massey work just the same.
