Thanks for working on my pics Photog! I think my camera has controls I haven't found yet. Rich W. and coalnewbie, those are great kettles too! There must have been as many kettle makers as there were stove builders! I'd like to see what you other members have in your stashes! The old ones seem to be a lot heavier and far better made than the new things I've seen in stores. Mine was not pretty, all dark brown, and I found out if I put salt on a cut lemon then rubbed the lemon on the pot the new copper color came right out. I used a small horse-hair acid brush I have for radiator work dipped in the salt/lemon juice for the hard-to-reach areas. I was careful not to get any on the inside tinned surfaces, not knowing what it would do to the tinned copper. I used a little rubbing compound to finish polishing the metal. My son had some buffing pads for a drill that worked to finish the job. Some antiques shouldn't be messed with because people like the patina but I don't think that's so with copper. They seem to really like the shined-up piece.

My stoves and kettles are unpolished that's for sure. I always thought it was because I was lazy but thx to you I now realize it's 'cause I like patina. :D I thought patina was a villain in a James Bond movie.

hahahahahaha, I slay myself.

I picked this one up for a few bucks at the flea market last year, it didnt have a lid but still does what it needs to. It's nothing to write.home a out. Not very pretty but it works. It looked much better when I got it. :)
