The manager comes over and I point out to him that his person just left $20 worth of fastener of mine on the floor and I’d like to go into his pit to see what else is missing. He takes me down into the pit where I see this...

It gets better, they actually drained the transmission fluid. They were going to let him drive away with no transmission fluid and overfilled oil.

These your workers Rick? ;) When I first got the GS and was under it looking around I noticed the flywheel dust cover was missing, it's just a piece of plastic with 3 screws. It takes a minute too put it back. I thought that was bad for laziness/incompetence.

Unbelievable somebody could be that dumb.....

Although I would have been out of the car at the sound of the ripping he said he heard.

The comment about the aero pan not having an option for a sunroof made me laugh...

Gotta disagree with the author....

"Mike" is a complete idiot for taking an AS4 to a quick lube.

He almost deserves it. 8-)

If you can't afford to bring an S4 to the dealer for an oil change or don't have the ability to do it yourself, don't buy an Audi.

Seeing some of the kids coming out of the schools now a days, this really doesn't surprise me.

We just had a repair in the shop. A 2013 Toyota Avalon that was hit in the rear end requiring a new bumper assembly and a rear body panel replacement. The damaged rear body panel also tweeked the trunk lid. My employee had to remove the lid trim to realign it.

After the job was finished, he took it outside and washed it. He told me it was all finished. So I go outside to give it the once over to make sure everything was done right. After I opened up the trunk lid, I notice there are 2 trim clips missing. So I ask him if he broke them during removal ?? Oh no he says and walks over to my nut and bolt bin and hands them to me. I then proceeded to ream him a new a**hole. How the hell do you not see and know where they were supposed to go ???

And this guy is in his 50's............................

Total lack of dedication to his job and self respect to know that you do a job as best as can be done. I don't work that way here !!!!! Never have and never will.

Rick

I'd be speechless... Honestly. How stupid can you be? Who in their right mind would think this is a good idea?

As noted in the article this is apparently more work that just taking it off right. LOL

Hopefully that is the outer limit of stupidity, but I think there is more room to grow.

I once had a Ford dealership leave 2 lug nuts off of each of several wheels. On two consecutive visits! I immediately went back to desk, before leaving the lot. A few minutes later. I actually had to argue with them over who did it. The first time they refused to pay for the missing lug nuts. I paid for them and stormed out. Next visit, same thing exactly. Again they refused to apologize or pay for them. That time, I looked at the tech's service bay that worked on it. Lug nuts everywhere on the floor. That time I told them that they were going to regret it. They then supplied them, but no remorse. Unbelievable place! That Ford dealer is gone today. In Hamburg, Pa.

I also had a different Ford dealer sell and install a "factory rebuilt engine". That engine crapped out for the same reasons as the original had in about 10k miles. It was only then that I discovered that they had never installed a new engine. They just did a knurl job on a piston and probably new rings on that cylinder. Same old engine. They pocketed the cost of the rebuilt engine. I gave them one chance to make it right. That was a generous trade in offer. That Ford dealership is still around, but with different ownership and location. Hopefully much more honest. Kutztown, Pa.

I have known 2 different people that had a wheel fall off their vehicle after getting service at a very well known national box store. I have heard of a few more, locally. Denial of culpability comes first, but they eventually pay for repairs. Getting service at a quick change or department store is a very bad idea. It also smart to check on everything a dealership does, as well. I do try to do all my own work, unless it's a warranty issue.

Or when I took my Powerstroke into get the oil changed and the replaced the CPS with a bad one and the truck ran down the road and stopped. Luckily I had evidence from a mechanic friend (A1 certified) and sued them successfully. They of course settled out of court, I just ran out of energy. Now even thought I hate the oil job I do it myself. When I pick up a new car (not very often) I don't even return for the 1000 mile check up. I am convinced that is the chance they take to screw something up. I never get the trans fluid changed. Luckily I do have one garage that I now trust.

I hate to say It but I totally agree, Its not right that you can't trust a place to do a simple task but thats the norm anymore :( .

Other then warranty or recalls no one touches my vehicles but me with the only exception, body work because I'm not a body man!!

Years ago on our way to Florida I had a problem with our Ford Aerostar. Out of desperation we stop at a Penske service yeah at Kmart. I informed them if they lift the van by the pinch rails on the rockers they would bend. Yep they bent them, and I believe I settled with them later for @350.00 that was along time ago and I did it w/o a lawyer and fixed the damage myself. Lessons learned, don't trust most, and don't buy a Ford Aerostar. My 2 Chevy Ventures have never had the problems that Ford had.

Oh yeah Aero covers, that can't make a Northeast car rot sooner!
