OK, here's the latest...I went to the house today and did some measuring, from the front of the stove to the front edge of the hearthpad is 17 inches, the flue pipe is 21 inches from the wall and the back of the stove is 32 inches from the wall. The hearthpad is a Yoder 5448 it's a type 2 and is 1.25 inch thick (and quite heavy) . They (manufacturer) claim it can be placed directly on a carpeted floor, the only issue with that is some heavier stoves can cause problems with the pad bowing. I hope this clears things up a bit. We had intended to buy a fireproof rug for in front and as it sits now may very well change in the future. My mother died in March and I inherited the house, it's been nothing but pressure since to try to get out of my house and into that one. We got the new chimney built and the stove in the house and the pad seemed like the way to go. The dealer recommended it and since it was a floor display we got a huge discount. my original question (worry I guess) was how hot the pad got under the stove when I test fired it, I'm just not used to that with my old Efel.

Soooo, you should do some experimentation/research & figure that out if you have a need, cause neither do I nor do I have a need. If something feels Inflammably HOT, I deal with it in a safety oriented way. As I'm sure you know, the pad is rated 1.61.

If concerned just put a sheet of metal under the hot part of the stove raised one inch off the hearth pad.
