Finally got the new chimney finished and my "other wife", as it has been named (not by me), installed and burning.

The stove came out very nice, thanks to Emery. I also have to thank Wilson for the elbow, whom I just remembered I still haven't sent a check to (it';s coming this week my friend).

My only question, for all the G6 / G8 owners out there is how hot does your fire pot typically get? Not the barrel, the pot, measured on the outside with an infrared thermometer, at the top middle and bottom. If anyone can take these measurements and post back I'd appreciate it. My draft is fairly consistent at .05, although I haven't yet installed the baro, but I've gotten what I felt were some pretty high pot temperature readings, at around 800, while maintaining a barrel temp of around 300 to 350.

Any thoughts?

Nice install, it looks awesome. Love the hearth area and the stove turned out beautiful.

I just reloaded the stove 45 minutes ago and I am reading 540℉ on my lined fire pot. Reading at the top of the barrel is 333℉. Readings were taken with a Ryobi infrared thermometer.

Before I lined my pot it would reach 900+ and start to glow just to keep the room warm with the barrel temp around 280. After I lined it the pot stays in the 5-600 range with the barrel around 300-450, however mine in a old Glenwood hickory
