Is it the chain that wont let it close? Could be the little tabs on the door are bent. Maybe the chain jumped a ball or two?

I'm going with Rob R., Your problem is not a common one. By some chance, did the force push the magnet forward (out), stopping the flapper door from closing? Take a closer look. Please keep us informed.Rob R. wrote:Sounds like the mounting bracket got bent. Probably just needs a small adjustment.

Jack, there's a tab that the flap rides on--check that out. One flat head screw gets it off stove to make sure it's moving properly.
Guys this fall I took stove to garage to paint .I had a muscle weight lifter friend of grandson to help .I think maybe we put belt of refrigerator dolly around bi metal an bent something .Anyway I ordered new flap an connector .From Hitzer .Obviously afraid of existing bi met unit as it Ran Away 3 times to 80 plus degrees in house an would not close .Keep input on any ideas . mucho thanks so far . jack
