Stoker Coal Boiler: Several EFM 520 refurbs...one 900, one 1300 mega-stoker
Hand Fed Coal Stove: (2) Warm Morning Stoves

Hey guys

Blew the day off to go take a look around the PA Farm Show for the first time in 12 years. We had a blast, and as usual the animals, machinery and food was fantastic.

There was a booth set up that had a Pennstoker anthracite burning boiler. Looked sort of like the Keystoker concept for the feeder/burner unit. The boiler flues were arranged vertically underneath a hinged door on top that looked like a breeze to do your boiler cleaning.

What really caught my eye was the overbuilt construction, this thing was built hell for stout. I have grown up in the coal delivery business and have seen many, many different stoker systems but this thing was really put together. Heck, I think just the handle on the ash door itself was made out of half inch steel, now that's what I'm talking about!

I have always been partial to EFM, we have 4 of them here, very dependable. But it sure seemed to me like this thing was worth a second look. Looks like five different models up to 15,000 BTU.

Just wanted to see if anyone owns ones do how they like it, or does anyone know the story on these? Looks like they are built down at Middletown.

Thanks
Tyler

I've seen an add on CL for one that is fore sale. I had never heard if it before. I had no idea that it is a NEW coal stoker boiler. Now that is interesting! I wonder if they have a website?

Found it!

The boiler design looks a bit like Smitty's boiler. Small capacity, vertical fire tube boiler.

Unless one is Self Insured be aware these look to carry NO UL Testing or any ASME vessel Certification. :o

Amish are self insured mostly and they may even be the builder of these units. "Insurance is just too fancy!!!"

Well, now that kind of throws up a red flag. Nothing against the Amish, but I would like to see some kind of boiler certification there just for peace of mind.

It sure is a heavy looking thing though, spent most of the evening studying over the photos and trying to learn a little bit more. I had a feeling it was an Amish built unit, because I just didn't see a whole lot of advertising.

If ya learn anymore about it, please post it. It's just kind of encouraging to me to see that someone is still building something as stout looking as that.

Thanks a lot!

WOW.....one of the photo's showed TWIN 7 grate stokers. I couldn't afford the coal to run that thing. That must be the 1/2 million BTU model.

I know this is an old post but they are UL rated and can be ASME if customer needs the stamp.

Thanks again,
Glenn
