I know of someone considering removing an EFM-520 because he is changing the house into a rental. The unit is about forty years old, well maintained, and in excellent condition. What is the value of the unit if I remove it from the basement? It is located in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County.

This year has been tough on coal stoker boiler prices. Warm weather and low oil prices have caused coal stoker boiler demand to drop sharply. If your plan is to pull this boiler and resell it, you may have to wait til next heating season to make any money on it.

Here's one that they say was "refurbished last year" for $1900.

This one has had some expensive parts replaced. I've seen this one in other adds over the past few months, still no takers for $2,000.

I've seen many other stoker boilers for sale that never seem to sell. They just get reposted in a new add.

If you don't have to pay money for it, just labor to remove it, I would say go for it. You may need to sit on it for quite a while to get any real money out of it.
