Well, it has a fire in its belly, now my basement is filling up with smoke from the polish and paint. When I tore it apart the hot blast system was plugged with ash and did not work, with a small wood fire it is amazing to watch the smoke ignite as it passes the flutes in the pot. I can it imagine with coal this would be a sight. After this fire dies I will be removing the grates again to fill the cracks and send off for new casts

It's the reality of it honestly, and why Carbon Monoxide detectors are so important.

Yea I took a pic of it with the camera the other way but you couldn't see the whole thing.. I tried taking a pic of the swirling flames when the hot blast damper is open but as soon as I open the door to get a camera or my phone in there it stops, I was watching it through the tiny hole in the top from where the bonnet swings

I think it looks wonderful the way it is. It has very nice, overall antique patina look to it. Would look very fitting for a place in the back woods. ;)

My wife said the same thing, sounds like it may stay aged... the cabin is going to have reclaimed barn board walls inside and slate shingles for the hearth walls so it should fit in with the ice box we have for a cooler too

Perfect !

If your were going to put it in the parlor of a Victorian home, or a more modern home, I'd agree with re-plating the trim. But with the décor your going with I think as is it will fit very well.

My sediments exactly, and I think Paul hit the nail on the head. The patina gives your stove that touch of character and looks amazing just the way it is.
