I would like to find

1) split/half chimney blocks (I can only find the whole/one piece ones).

2) round Interlocking clay flues (I can find round flues but not interlocking ones)

I am near Syracuse/Auburn NY.

Anyone know of a supply house up this way that would have either of these? Thanks

2) round Interlocking clay flues
They are out there, thats what I have.

Socket type joints and self aligning joints are available in round flue liners

Waldo, I called Northern Block in Fulton, I was told they don't have them.

Grumpy, I talked with B&C 2 weeks ago (block, re--bar, etc...for our house is all coming from there) they said they didn't have flues like that.

Also checked with Dorwin Springs....nadda.

Guess I will call back B&C and double check.

Thanks

I called B&C this morning...spoke with sales manager...they do not carry them.

Called Paragon....they do not carry them.

Called norther block in Fulton and Cortland too....nope.

Dorwin Springs...I said 'nadda' before...for those of you in the area...they went out of business 2 years ago.

The two places that have the best stock of masonry chimney/flues/caps/clean out doors/thimbles/etc. 1) Callahan's in Auburn and Ace Hardware in Fulton on Rt 3

I am going to go with an 8 inch square flue. Will put in a minimum of a 6 inch thimble, but will go larger if I can (in case I change to a different or older appliance later on.

(and also...can't find half blocks at these places at all.)

I had the same issue, Couldn't find the round socket type anywhere. Even if you did, then finding a block they would fit through, wasn't happening.

I ended up just conforming with the masses and built a 8x8 square tiled chimney. It drafts great, however it's 40'+. I was able to get a 8" round thimble mortared into it ;)

On a side note, there is nothing square bout the ends of those 8x8 clay tiles. :x

I wouldn't worry too much about the half blocks. They cut very easy with a angle grinder and a blade like this: http://www.lowes.com/pd_99666-70-DW4701___?productId=1115651&pl=1&Ntt=diamond+blade

I looked at the stores locations and the closest is on the PA/OH line, but Menards has the half blocks, if this is the right size. https://www.menards.com/main/heating-cooling/venting/masonry ... 3282128148

Don't they sell some kind of insulation for the 8x8 tile type chimney? It would make a difference for sure..
HiWay concrete in Wareham Ma carried the round chimney I believe when I was looking into it. They make concrete blocks of all types. And they deliver out into NY Penns etc. as they use to or still do pic up coal for the trip back.
