The forecast for 2-4" has resulted in 10" of snowfall

Today is to be breezy, tomorrow windy
The cold will ride in on the wind
This weekend will be brutal
Highs in the mid-teens
lows, below zero, our coldest temps for this season
The ground appears to be thawed open, which will allow the snow to melt into the ground.

When warm temps come again.

With the cold snap coming this weekend its time to do a clean out, brush down, feed tweak, air tweak, flue pipe clean out, baffle brushing, air filter change or anything else you need to tune up your coal burner. :flex:

Everyone with a marginally sized system (me included) will need every BTU we can get!

Check it now rather than trying to get some forum help around midnight, 'cause if ya haven't noticed the posting times most of us don't stay up too late!! :D

You hand fed guys get the stove size vs nut size; or nut size versus pea size ready for max heat.

Us stoker guys need to get some nice dry, clean, fine free rice ready for the stoker so it feeds well and passes air for max heat.

The benefit from this arctic blast will be freezing up the muddy quagmire so I can dump a few loader buckets in the outdoor bin without tearing up the yard.

What kind of temperatures are forecasted for the tropics of Maryland? :)

We are expecting the coldest weather of the season this weekend, but it is still much warmer than what we have experience in the past.

Here in the balmy subtropics we should see single digits at night and a high of about 20 during the day. Cold enough that when I take the dog outside at night any loose stones in the driveway freeze to the pads on her paws and make her walk funny.

I realize it's nothing like the cold you guys experience.....and I am NOT interested in trading places wit' ya!! :nono:
I think I got virtual frostbite last year when somebody from up there in arctic-land posted a pic of their car thermometer display showing -35.

We get a week or so like this each year and it is enough for me to remember that I don't enjoy it!
