Guess I'll have to make sure the ash tubs are all empty. Don't know how much of this Lehigh buck will turn to ash. Got it running on 4 teeth and 4 air. Lehigh this year has been very economical. Great heat and low ash.

I see this cold blast coming with wind chills -20*. I have the RC Garnet 48 up and running (what a monster) but I can't find the lever to change it into second gear. I suppose it's time to close the window. Direnzo, great heat, moderate ash.

The lever was removed to prevent any chance of that heat monster going China Syndrome.coalnewbie wrote:I see this cold blast coming with wind chills -20*. AGREED. Eventually I'll put up a bigger shop and turn the garage into a coal boiler room to heat both the house and the new shop. But that's a WAYS down the road.freetown fred wrote:Yep, I saw it was pretty tight after doin the pop-up pix. Ya know what they say about ANY building---not big enough!!!!!

They are forecasting 20* actually with a 9* wind chill here in Northern VA. I'm definitely not looking forward to the getting the bus started in the morning. They say the low temperatures will be we us through the weekend.
I'm adding more nut coal with the pea coal I typically burn. That should put out as much heat I"ll need to maintain 75* throughout the house. I'll also open the air a tad more. Stay warm, Lisa

In the house, the Kaa-2 will take care of itself. May have to bump the feed up one turn, ONLY if the house cools off some. I've had it backed off one turn for our mild winter. However, in the shop, It looks like I'm going to see what this D.S. 1600 will do .
