1- I was reading this thread about annual maintenance for a DF520 and see that the long cast baffle in the picture is flat. Mine is curved. Was it warped by heat or what? Is this common?
Annual Maintenance and Cleaning of the DF520 Boiler
No pictures of mine. It looks just like the one in the above thread but is bent. The bend is concentric so I always thought it was supposed to be that way.
2- What oil is everyone using in their gearboxes? I saw something about 20w machine oil, the manual just says its a synthetic gear oil from the factory, what is the correct spec? Nevermind. I called EFM and they said a 90w synthetic.

If the baffle is hanging in place, just leave it there.

The baffle will warp over time from the heat, more if the stoker is run at a high feed rate. Mine had a slight curve to it when I bought the boiler. I turned the baffle around to see if it would warp back. No such luck, but it hasn't gotten any worse.
75w-90 synthetic gear oil is available at any autoparts store and will work very well in the gearbox, and also in the ratchet pan. 30w or 40w engine oil also works good in the ratchet pan and doesn't smell like gear oil.

I think his point was that it is normal for it to curve from the heat of the fire, but it doesn't need to be replaced as long as it still hangs properly on the brackets.maxpower_454 wrote:That doesn't help at all. Anyone else?
