Out with the wood, In with coal- "The 350 build"

PostBy: WOODSUCKS On: Sat Apr 05, 2008 10:22 pm

Well, a couple weeks ago I went over to stokerscot's to see the much talked about Stoker,I was quite impressed after spending the past 6 months cutting, splitting, stacking, loading, hauling, restacking and babysitting a minium of 3 times per day if not more, every day woodboiler. Then after all that and a hard days work i would end up with a cold shower, Needless to say woodboilers are very inconsistant and just require way too much attention. So I decided to go with a stoker, Scrapper23jr had a EFM 350 and stockerscot was making a trip to pa, So I was able to get the 350, I spent lhe last week after work gathering up all the stuff for the install,Got everything put together except the wiring, Fri night stokerscot [ electricial contractor] came over and wired it up, We lit her off and in about 1 hr she was up and running, with the "donated "By stokerscot, Calvin's deep mined coal. Everythings running smooth except a grinding noise from the gear box that is every 1/2 revolution of the auger? Stokerscot came back over this morning and we took the auger assy all apart and didn't see anything, put it all back together and same thing? Well we'll figure it out, Here's some pics of the build and the not so missed wood boiler, thanks to stokerscot for all the help and scrapper23jr for the 350. thats all for now...

Check if the auger shaft is rubbing against the cast iron, where it goes through the base of the stoker. What is the serial number on the stoker? It's at least 30 years old.
