I already have a Ventless that is similar to that.
Wife wants something that looks similar to this.

I thought you were just after heat, not heat and style!
I would strongly discourage the use of propane, too expensive. But if you have a propane heater you already know that.

I know its expensive :( I bought 500 gallons this fall for a total of $1200. I've burned about half of that.

There's no such thing as ventless. That's what I call room vented and lung filtered.

Dan from the Fireplace Gallery told me they recommend you keep a window cracked a few inches if you're using ventless gas fireplace... Which makes kinda pointless.

That's a neat Aussie woodburner. Obidiah's sells them out west.

This fellow writes about stacking the boxes to achieve an efficient oven (it's good reading for anyone thinking of pulling CH or DHW out of a stove):

If you like that 'efficient cookstove' idea, even if wood, the Italian Nordica firm looks like it took Guilland's advice to build the perfect oven. The claim is that it's hard to get heat to surround the oven evenly to cook properly - heat just wants to go up. This might take care of that problem with the burn box under the oven:

Have to be pretty tall to get to the cooktop...

Here's another, virtually unknown spanish make and very fancy but WOW!

It's actually priced in the mid-tier of euro models (~$6k, thank you exchange rate).

Where is the 'press "2" for English' button?? :?

Very nice looking stoves.. When I flew all the time to Stutgartt, there was a large store, seemed almost like a very high class 'flea market' 'cause they sold everything.. they had some truely beautiful cookstoves/ovens.. but back then, when I could buy a Euro for about $0.92,,, the stoves were still very expensive.. pluss shipping !!

Gonna be interesting what you decide on and end up with !!

Hand Fed Coal Stove: Margin Gem Cook Stove and Harman Mark III

Post by endinmaine » Fri. Apr. 11, 2008 5:17 pm

I recently purchased the Margin Gem from Toronto, CN. It is sitting in my kitchen waiting to be installed. The attached picture is from an install in California. It burns both wood and coal. It also has a water jacket in the back but I will use my Harman MKIII for that purpose. Once mine is installed and in use it in the fall I will report back.
