Hi... Please, come in. Even in the face of our member Windyhill dealing with the passing of his wife, we go on. It's not easy, but we are strong and each day we will do our best to continue on the path that has been handed to us. So.... hand me the coffee filters & we'll do what we do..... grimace as we face life's challenges, smile as we find comfort, and query the future.
I can't believe it's March. As much as I do find joy in winter, it was kind of nice to not have to deal with mush snow this year. It's at the point that even if we have a snow storm or two, it'll be gone in a few days. I'm sure that mud season won't last long....there's just not much frost in the ground. The Axeman Anderson is happy to dance along and keep this place warm. Maybe today I'll open up the coal bin & see how much I've used so far. I'm guessing not much! The pile of ashes is about half what it usually is.
I have a couple of wing chairs to upholster for a client. I've been putting them off as they don't want to be without them for long. I waited until I had time to work on them as soon as they go there. I phoned them & made arrangements to pick them up. Within minutes of making the commitment the hospital called & has 3 days work that needs to get done. I tend to do that work first as it's the best paying work......so.... I'm working this weekend! If you need me, stop by, I'll be in the shop!
Eggs & bacon? OK!
Take care..... Hug your loved ones. As we are sadly & strongly reminded this week.... We never know when life's journey will force struggle into our lives. That being said.... try to find a smile today. It can usually be done by helping someone else. Forward we go.

Good Morning all, weather looks to be changing for the better here as well. Odd pattern this year with much staying South & then racing up the coast, we still got our share of snow but it seemed nice to share with others.
The better half has I believe two more chemo treatments to go so things should be getting smoother around here once done. I don't know how anyone can take the chance of not having H.I. as so many things can come out of nowhere as with WH, sad indeed. My wife's Chemo averages to around 25K per treatment at two per month, not many could afford that without Ins..
Hope all have a safe & productive week with better weather around the corner.

Good morning people of the NEPA crossroads forum, sorry so late I decided to sleep until 7:00 this morning because getting up at 3:00 AM everyday can wear on you.
Good coffee and bacon just like always . I hope Windy Is doing ok, things will be hard for a while as this was a very big life changing event for them.
My cousin is a Amish driver and her boss put on a fundraiser for there school in Middlefield Ohio, It was a live and silent auction that we were invited too so never being at a Amish auction we went, there were a lot of lighting stuff(12V of course) one thing I did like were the LED floor lamps mounted to bases that acted as the battery box on wheels, some just were steel tube and others were handmade out of wood. There were 2- 2400# pallets of nut or pea size coal and 2-1000# lots of bulk plus some lots of firewood too, the prices were good for the most part but we didn't buy anything from the live auction although we did win a basket filled with all kinds of Fiskars scissors and shears which was cool, my cousin did win 2 lots- one with a gallon of locally made Maple syrup, 5# block of cheese and homemade cupcakes for $30.00, and one with another gallon of syrup with homemade chocolate covered strawberries for $25.00 so he got a deal.
We had fun but next year we will be prepared for the live auction part( we didn't know about It until we got there) have a buyer number, more $$$ and a nice seat for my poor ass, 5 Hrs on a wooden chair Isn't good .
The weather is going to warm up next week so I think we will try to get some skiing in tomorrow as I think this will be It for us around here anyways ,oh well that just means It's getting close to camping season If the weather stays decent maybe in 2 weeks I will pull It out and start to reload It. Take care friends and have a wonderful week to come .

"Single & lovin it"........... I have heard that phrase many times over the yrs, I never understood it,
Now that I am single again,i would label that phrase as a pile of bull crap, or worse.
I would love to have Naomi back even if it was one of those "bad" times of our marriage.
She could cook, I can't & I have no desire too.
She could cheer me up when I was depressed
I never thought that I could miss her this much
She is no longer here to mediate with upset customers
I talked with her about everything, even lots of happenings on this forum
I no longer have anyone to share these things with, she is not here to share our dreams & plans with.
Lots of changes here, she had 30 chickens, they should all be gone by this weekend,i just do not have the time to tend them too.
Likely no garden this yr,if any it would be a postage stamp in comparison to what WE had.
So hard to believe that just last Saturday at breakfast time......... she was still here with me
She made the statement that she thinks it is going to be a good day,it was for her.
1 miserable, sleep depraved week behind me,God alone knows how many of them are ahead for me.
She is gone 1 week , hard to believe.... it seems so much longer
Yet it still seems so unreal
I will certainly treasure our 39+ yrs together, trying to focus on all the fun we had together
I MISS HER SO MUCH
Thanks to all who prayed, shared thoughts ,pm's, Hambden Bob even called me last nite, I found that his talk is very similar to his printed messages, really !!
Thanks for the call,HB.
The pic is 1 of my favorite of her.

Good morning all. Best wishes to windyhill during these dark and trying times.
This week has been a bit of a mess around here because the wife has been in the hospital since Monday. Nothing too serious, a bunch of tests and adjusting meds, she is scheduled for release Monday as long as everything stays the same or improves. For me I had to take a few days off work and run the house.
Medical services are expensive even with insurance and I’m sure the wife maxed out the deductible two years in a row now. I wanted to be proactive and called the billing department to see about paying over time and they do have plans available. She also informed me of programs that would pay all or part of the bill depending on economic circumstances. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending how you see it, I don’t qualify for assistance but anyone who gets in a situation like this I would advise sitting down and explaining the situation, help is available.
Sam, I can’t for the life of me figure out drug costs. My wife was recently put on a new pill that would cost about $400 a month cash at the drugstore, through insurance almost $100 a month but the doctor gave her a card that gives it to her for $10 a month for two years. What is the real cost to produce this stuff?
I guess I better finish up the chores and go visit the wife. I’m taking next week off to supervise her and maybe do some things around the house if we get that warm up they are talking about.
Everyone be good.

So sorry to hear this Windy - may God be with you and help you through this trying time.
Nothing I'm going through even comes close to holding a candle to that - it's all trivial b/s, so no point in talking about it.
Life sure is a test. We don't know why we're here, or what the test is for - faith in the Almighty is the only thing to get us through it all. In the end, He's all we've got, no matter how bad things get.
I pray that the sun is shining where you are Windy, and that somehow, some way, you can see through the darkness of this time. You'll be in our Prayers. God Bless You my brother.

Absolutely Good Morning,and now,Good Afternoon !
We're going to have a Good visit to Freddy's ! It's just not negotiable !
Freddy: I told You that We'll Stand Tall here this weekend. We're goin' for broke, and this Lil'Ol Oasis still stands for All who could use a coffee,a little Social Discourse, and maybe just a little "Coal Love" from All ! I see that once again,You've knocked it out of the park,as only a True Mainah could do !
Windy(Dave): Thanx for All of The Share ! Life is better that way. You never know who You're going to help. Consequently,You never know who's gonna help You ! Naomi is a name that flows well here. No need to "Try To Forget". That's complete hogwash in my book. We're here to run together. You mess with one of Us,You're gonna get All of Us. Death once again under-estimated the NEPA Coal Board....... Stand Tall In Hell,Windy ! We're runnin' with 'Ya toward the Daylight. We'll teach You to cook, even if it kills FreeTown Fred !
As far as the rest of You Coffee House Maniacs are concerned,a Huge "Thank You" has been issued to You,One and All ! You make this place Live! As that portly 'Ol British Critter,Sir Winston Churchill had once exclaimed: "This was Their Finest Hour" ! This place shines because of You All !

Good afternoon gang.
Last Saturday morning 6 of us left for a trip to da "yooper" part of Michigan to do some snowmobiling. Freddie could not supply us with enough to head to Maine so we added a few more hours to the drive to get some good white stuff. The only problem was the hose we rented in Trout Lake, MI had no cell or internet. I left yesterday morning at 0930 and I got home at 0115 this morning and too tired to log on to anything. Long drive indeed.
Only downside of the whole trip was coming back to civilization where they have operating cell phones and internet service. And getting online only to see Dave's wife passing. Sad, sad day indeed. I only wish I would have heard about it last week. Dave, please accept my late condolences.

Hi everyone,
No one will call winter over here but everyone agrees it probably is. The snow we had on Friday was wet and mushy but clung to the trees limbs and shrubs. It was the prettiest snow of the year; a real winter wonderland. It was also gone by noon which was great, too.
I let the Marks Brothers go out last weekend because except for Thursday and the snow day it's been 50* and is heading to the mid 70s over the next couple of days. My task for today was cleaning the Mark I out and pulling the black pipes out of the chimney. I washed the pipes off with a baking soda bath and will store them in the climate controlled storage closet. Hopefully, that will give them a longer life span. I'll take care of the Mark II next week. That one is easier to get to and won't take as long.
I also went to the first of 3 local church kid's consignment sales over the next three weekends. I got some excellent bargains on gently used clothes for the grand-kids and hope to fill out their mother's wishlist next weekend.
Not much else going on. WH, my thoughts and prayers continue to be with you. Take care all, Lisa

Better late than never
Naomi is still as gone from me this week as she was last week at this time
I am still lonely beyond description
Even getting a tractor fixed & ready to deliver , I have it sold.... just doesn't take away the separation pain.
This is a tractor that was a complete wreck... but it has a 20 HP Kohler Command,so we decided to fix all the issues to have this unit to sell.
Naomi had helped me on thurs & fri of last week to get it into decent enough shape that we both knew last friday that this would be a good unit to sell.
Tractor looks on the rough side, very good shape mechanical & quite a few new parts, the customer is fine with it this way
I should take pics & post, I doubt that I will work up enough want to to do that tho.
Thanks again to all .

I have been out of town quite a bit the last month so my visits to the forum have been sparce. I just learned of Windyhill's wife passing, I am so sorry for your loss Dave. Loosing a loved one leaves a huge hole in our hearts but it cannot take away all of those memories of them. My thoughts are with you Dave!
Good choice for breakfst Freddie, that is exactly what I had.
Things are looking like spring around here too, lots of the snow has melted and more should go this week.

Was my saturday to work. Afternoon was sunny, chilly 30*, but went up and started to disassemble the plow project. Didn't get too far along. need a torch to cut off old, rusty hard to reach bolts. Lime/fertilizers ordered foor later... when it stays warm out. Few parts ordered,JD only source, pricey of course! So that means a road trip up to Cortland, NY one town over from Freetown. Guess I will oblige and see what the old cogger is doing.
Working at getting a few other locals to do a small plow days, when I plow field. So will have to plan some food, fuel, etc... for the help if any do commit to it. Also, there are some fields(x wifes grand parents farm) that a realtor now owns, and just keeps them brushed hog off. Going to ask about using them for haying. Never know till one asks.
Thoughts to Windy. My dads sister, Aunt Janet passed away last weekend. Did a big family reunion out in Michigan 3 years ago where she lived.
Got to go enjoy the weekend all. whats left of it.
