Well my stomach is back in order. Today I'll get my license renewed and run a few local errands. If I have any time left I'll give SWPaDon's idea a try. If I find any leads I'll make another drive out there. I must have it planned out the day before because it is a long drive. I'll need to start early if I have to contact multiple people or I'll run out of daylight. I won't be stoppin at Dunkin Donuts for a breakfast sandwich anytime soon though.

For some time I "go to church" on YouTube. I'm not a member of a local congregation. That isn't helping me at the moment.

There is much more if anyone is interested.

A friend from the forum is sending emails to several property owners he knows close to Fishkill one of which is a dairy farmer. I have to be patient. I don't have an official start date yet but I have been contacted 3 times from lower management and was told the assistant superintendent of the job is thinking about when to start me. The job hasn't ramped up to the point they need a fuel time fuel truck driver yet but it will. I believe things will fall in place when it is time. My wife is well enough now so I can go back to work anytime. I still have things to prep at home so not starting right away is a good thing. Right now all is good even though I have lots of loose ends.

I didn't check with the tractor/farm supply people yet in that I have to let other things work through first. I don't want to pester too many folks all at once. One step at a time.

I called the local John Deere dealer looking for info. They ended the call promptly. I talked to some folks who have an apple orchard. They said no but would ask around. Talked to some people who raised and board horses....no. My friend who was going to send out a few emails to people he knew in the Fishkill area did. 2 no's and one hasn't responded yet. I don't have a spot yet. Still looking though.

I might have to resort to that. Not all Walmarts allow overnights. I just called the Walmart in Fishkill and they do allow overnights there providing you are well away from the building and don't block anything. That could buy me some time while looking for a better situation.

Looks like I'm starting next week. My supervisor called me tonight. He wasn't sure of the exact day but sounds like Wednesday is likely. My days of being a bum coming to an end. He was suggesting a furnished apartment for 13 hundred a month. NO WAY! That is nuts.

My supervisor is paying that for himself and his wife. Too much for me. It seems that most everyone is on their own. No per diem for me.

For whatever its worth, you should be able to deduct the cost of your lodging, meals etc, on your taxes, but really, why isnt the boss paying for your lodging? That is usually how its done when its temporary jobs. I do understand there are reasons not to do that, like not losing a job, but that would be normal.

Y.M.C.A....not the song! are also an option for a cheap room for a temp stay, Salvation Army etc. If pride is stopping you make a donation and volunteer, good people everywhere if you look hard enough. ;)

With this company that doesn't seem to be the case. Next year the job will be close enough to home to commute.
