Tax Time

Tax Time

How many others have procrastinated and are sitting at the desk today with a 2007 Turbo-Tax figuring it all out?
Nice day out, I'd rather be cleaning up the yard and washing my truck. :(

Just skip the taxes this year. The IRS is very understanding.

I got mine done in Feb. I had a refund due this year. I'm still doing some of my family members today. I knew I should've finished them during the winter.

Yea but I'm getting a small refund. I loaned my money to the government at 0 interest.
I wonder how many people would revolt if withholding was ended and they had to write a check each month or quarter for their federal income tax. Out of sight-out of mind.
I'm amazed at people who delight in a big refund, as if they are getting a gift or cheating the government out of something, when the reality is they had too much withheld and loaned their money to Uncle Sam for free!

I prepared my daughter's first (1040EZ-fast) and then my mom's, I've run out of the will to push on to ours.
I'll continue tomorrow!

I do this. Although I don't delight in it. I do have my reasons.

I haven't done taxes for 20 years or so. :D
My wife is a CPA and she loves to do taxes. She has her own accounting business and this is the time of the year when she makes a large percentage of her income.

As a former investigator with the IRS, I want to make a point in regards to any Politician's released charitable contribution information available during this election season: All we know is what they tell us they "Reported" to the IRS as charitable contributions. These figures are in no way "authenticated" or "verified" by the IRS unless a full audit is performed. Something to keep in mind! (+ the IRS is prohibited, by law, from releasing any info about your tax returns to the public........so we can't even be positive that the tax form released to the press ( by the politician) is really the same one the IRS got)

I know...I know.....I'm paranoid!
(but like R. Reagan used to say: "Trust.......But Verify"

I've got kids and I don't make very much so I get money back via EIC, I file as soon as I get my 1099 forms in, usually Jan 20th or so. Funny, I don't feel poor but according to the charts I am.

I have to admitt that using Tax Cut, Turbo Tax or one of the other tax programs, it is so much easier to fill out your own taxes now. (I still conive my wife into doing it though!) For those who haven't tried these tax software programs, they make filing pretty easy. You just answer simple questions & the programs fill in & print any IRS forms needed to complete your 1040 package.
