The wife got me the present I was going to buy for myself anyway.
It's going to be great for work but here's one just for fun.
It's an IR camera attachment for your phone.

The sensor only goes to 626*F. I tried to shoot the pile with the door open and it was off the scale.2001Sierra wrote:What will it look like when the stove is burning hot
I took this picture from across the room. Maybe 20 feet away.

It's the Seek XR for a Galaxy S5.
I'll have to use it a while but right now I almost think I should have gone with the standard Seek.
The XR has a narrower field of view (20* vs 36*) which gives it a longer range. The temperature range is higher but I don't know if that necessarily will help me most of the time I'm using it.
I bought it for work so I could shoot ductwork to look for floor issues and also to look at water/refrigerant systems to see the same. But since I have to stand so far away to get a good picture, I'm not sure how well this will work out.
I wanted it after seeing a manufacturer rep shoot some equipment from 20 feet below. I thought it was neat to not have to climb up and down ladders to see what was going on.

Its nice to see some technology is actually useful and not always bad. I can see lots of uses for something like that with electrical uses, and maybe for finding a date Happy birthday!

Still learning how to use this thing. I thought I got an awesome video of a condenser starting up only to find out you have to push the red button to make it start. Oops.
But it was really cool to see refrigerant flood into the condenser.
